Thunderbird Club

That’s how I feel about the modern G&L headstock.
Hey, we could design a "parts" bass using all the parts nobody likes....

A Lakland oval bridge
A Hofner control plate
A modern G&L headstock
A Rickenbacker pickguard in tort
A Dano Formica longhorn body
A Fender Rascal neck (that has to be removed to adjust the truss)
A Squier Bronco six pole "bass" pickup with white cover to hide the poles
A Warrior bass locking neutrik output jack
A load of lead shot to put in the semi hollow body so it weighs as much as a Peavey T50
A set of banjo tuners from a Dano Hodad bass

We could call it The Duck, you get to decide if it's ugly.;)

Royal Blue looks pretty as well. Shipping in the new year.

The blue is being released in May, so you find stock of it anywhere. I suspect that the red anniversary is nearly sold out, so difficult to find. The gold top is the most likely to be found a the moment I expect.

Pretty sure the Blue came out before the Red Anniversary model.
I’d have any of them really... GT, Black, White, Blue, Silverburst. Never saw the original sunburst - but people in the JCB thread seem to think they looked great.

The RumbleKat also had a Blue year the same time as the JCB. I tried a RKat in the shop. It was really a very cool thing. I was surprised actually. Sort of didn’t want to put it down and go back across the road to the seminar thing I was at. :)

That's why I own early 80s versions.

This one's actually an L-1000. I bought it from the original owner. He had the bridge pup installed as soon as he got it. Completely passive. Sweet bass, a little heavy but not as bad as my '77 StingRay. I also have a white fretless L-1000.

I'll get to designing soon! Give me a few days to get it just ugly enough :P

Playing a private event in Texas tonight. The host of the event is the guy that bought me all those basses for Christmas. Playing before us is Texas blues legend Alan Haynes

The host likes my T Bird so much, he bought one for Jackie Newhouse (Stevie Ray Vaughn’s original bass player). Jackie has exclusively played his 1960 P bass for many years, so I’m guessing he likes his ‘Bird :) It’s a 2014 Gibson, btw.

The blue versions were out a couple years back I believe. They looked fantastic to me and I would love one of the JCB models in that finish.

GC has a used sunburst version of the JCB in stock right now. One of the few I have seen.

It does look nice!

The thing with the JCB that gets me a little is the pickup colour. If I had the Black JCB I’d want the black pickup not the cream.
Come to think about it I’d almost always want the black.

View attachment 3256651 Had a bit of excitement at work this morning.

Someone fell asleep (or was under some influence, unsure) at 3:30 in the morning and drove through the front door and wall of one of our favorite restaurants. Noone was hurt, and they were only closed one day. That was the second time in a few years. Glad y'all are OK.

Where is this?

You just want to buy your gasoline at Washington state prices rather than Vancouver prices... :D
And, as long as you are shopping for gasoline, you want to buy it anywhere in the US except Washington. Hawaii has more expensive fuel, and sometimes California, but not always. Idaho and Oregon are usually cheaper than Washington. Fuel prices are one of the reasons my full sized Chevy van got turned into a Transit Connect. The transformation was magic, and I wasn't allowed to watch.
