The online pics are blurry. I think I’m looking at a Markii. There’s something in red there...The name plate will say 1001RB
With red lettering Underneath saying Markii.

Lots of folks have serious opinions about the ‘best’ sounding rb head. Some absolutely swear the 800rb or 700, or 1001 are the very ‘best.’ I’ve had really fun gigs on every single one of the rb’s from the 400 to the 2001 and I love em all. The only odd thing that ever happened to me was after a decade of using and loving a 400rb it finally needed repairs. When I got it back, it just wasn’t the same and I really needed more headroom anyway, so I bought an 800rb and hated it with whatever cab I was using at the time. Probably the cabs ‘fault’ but I quickly sold that and went with something else. I’ve since played 800rb’s that sounded better than my memory of mine. Personally, if I were buying an rb I’d go for the 1001 or the 2001, which sounds awesome on upright. You’d better have a serious cab or cabs to run that 2001rb amp though. It’s a beast
Doesn't get any love from the cameraman - but Sunday morning T-bird sighting... Barracuda!
Killer band live back then. Didn’t recall the Thunderbird but it makes sense.
Here’s something I think you will all find interesting. A good friend of mine’s father was a part owner of Moog Music during the Norlin years. He invented the MemoryMoog and was a a pretty cool cat. My friend is writing a book on that era, and during his research, came in contact with this guy that owns a huge collection of vintage gear. And I mean huge. Keith Emerson’s rigs. (Complete with daggers!) Amps from The Who. Zappa’s studio desk. (And his coffe table for some reason.) Jimi’s pedals.
Early models of every synth you can imagine. On and on.
But what’s cool is that the owner has opened it up as a museum/research lab/studio space. So it’s not just being stored away. My friend created the website and I got a video tour last night. Check it out at: emeapp.org. There is also a FB page.

Good info - thanks! Last night I had my MB200 gain at about 8:30 and a guy came up to say the bass was drowning out the vocalist! Probably just at one point in the room, but jeez! The PA has 2 x QSC K10s so it wasn’t like she was underpowered.I had a 1001RBII and found it was really more than I needed, the venues we play at all have a good FOH so I wasn't really getting the amp to "open up" at lower volumes. Plus, it wanted a 20 amp circuit all to itself, which wasn't always possible. So I traded it away for a 700RBII which I can turn up a little and get nice tone onstage.
...I could be full of it, but every amp I own sounds better at 4 ohms than 8, except the D800, which sounds fine either way![]()
She looks spunky and miscievous. She is a blast to be next to on stage! Lots of dance moves![]()
He phased in briefly.Too bad the bass player is invisible... (apparently the cameraman didn't know he was on stage!)
This was my issue as well. I had the 1001 RB, but it wouldn't open up without overwhelming- just too much power.I had a 1001RBII and found it was really more than I needed, the venues we play at all have a good FOH so I wasn't really getting the amp to "open up" at lower volumes. Here is a weird take on Gretsch's "Thunderbird" style:

Exactly Roger. Even the 700RBII is really loud, I always think of The Nasty Habits as a loud rock band, but honestly I've never had that amp up half way at any venue - it would kill people.

So not to be be redundant, but that's truth right there. 480 watts @4ohms is a lot in the GK world. And what you 2 are saying is what a lot of other GK users say.
Hell, I still don't know much!Had the 1001 rbII when I was younger I didn’t know much....duff used an 800rb...1001 seemed cooler... I was poor with eq...couldn’t find that warm liquid bass tone I was looking for...I blamed it on solid state....no tubes.
