Agreed! It's weird.I still always feel kind of surreal picking up a rig that weighs less than my bass.

or just making one load in and one load out trip. love to look at the drummer's face while doing it..I still always feel kind of surreal picking up a rig that weighs less than my bass.
According to GK, Led Zeppelin used them. It's GK's first (along with the 300B) big production bass amp. Precedes the 400B. All solid state.
Best sounding ss bass amp ever built IMO.
Our drummer has a BMW. He can't fit a trap case in it so it's all separate pieces, takes him about 5 trips. Takes me 2, 3 if I'm providing PA(JBL EON ONE).or just making one load in and one loud out trip. love to look at the drummer's face while doing it..![]()
indeed........must have sounded epic with that Alembic..

I foolishly joined in on that threadI suppose there's an outside chance that there might be someone here that could shed a bit of light on the topic...
What gives the T Bird it's unique sound?

Lots of folks have serious opinions about the ‘best’ sounding rb head. Some absolutely swear the 800rb or 700, or 1001 are the very ‘best.’ I’ve had really fun gigs on every single one of the rb’s from the 400 to the 2001 and I love em all. The only odd thing that ever happened to me was after a decade of using and loving a 400rb it finally needed repairs. When I got it back, it just wasn’t the same and I really needed more headroom anyway, so I bought an 800rb and hated it with whatever cab I was using at the time. Probably the cabs ‘fault’ but I quickly sold that and went with something else. I’ve since played 800rb’s that sounded better than my memory of mine. Personally, if I were buying an rb I’d go for the 1001 or the 2001, which sounds awesome on upright. You’d better have a serious cab or cabs to run that 2001rb amp though. It’s a beast
been looking for one of these for awhile now....seems every time I find one it sells before I even get a chance to bid...

I have a 2015 Gibby Tbird and an Epi Vintage Pro, I actually prefer the tone of the Vintage Pro, now the 2015 does not have traditional Tbird pups in it, it has the newer EB buckers with coil taps, and it sounds big and beefy, but the Vintage Pro is growly, dirty and angry...just how I like it ;-) YMMV, Rock on.I was just reading something about the Vintage Pro epi. Being the Evil lefty i havent touched one. Ive heard that these have some great pickups in them. I recall that its a new design specifically for this bass. For you who have both, how would you compare to modern Gibson's?
One of my tbirds (non gibson) has always sounded kinda crappy to me. Mostly due to cheap wood i believe. Ive tried many different pickups as a way to improve the sound. As of now ive settled on Gibson's which do a good job. Ive looked at the Thunderbuckers but maybe these epi pups?
Don’t look - they’ll then ask for help. Stay as far away as possible!or just making one load in and one load out trip. love to look at the drummer's face while doing it..![]()

We do help each other to some degree, mostly 'cos the drummer books the gigs and he doesn't get the $ 'til he's packed. Also the place usually wants us to pack our spit(sp?)and leave so they can lock up.
