I'm actually scottish but reside in England! ;)

Even better! In all sincerity Scotland is the one place I haven't visited that I very dearly want to, so very beautiful - I'm quite jealous!

Oh yeah, cos Glasgow is beautiful...:p

In seriousness I love the highlands of Scotland, I went up to live in a little cottage, miles from anything, surrounded by woods and ravines etc, it was so therapeutic, being away from any civilisation for a few days, and there was a fresh water stream from the mountain behind us which you could drink out of. Great experience

Sign me up for that trip too!!!

Never been to Scotland, but would love to...

We must not forget all those great things that have come out of Scotland: Midge Ure, The Skids, Big Country, Simple Minds... and Bay City Rollers! ;)

Well, one of the most sought after finished for an original Thunderbird is Inverness Green :)

This place is less than a mile from my home.....210 varieties of Scotch!

So I finally got myself a decent chromatic tuner and sat down to dial in my Studio 5. I put in stronger P/U springs and slightly longer P/U screws to allow me to bring the bridge P/U closer to the strings. Two hours and a busted D string later and its intonation is damn near perfect across the fretboard. My B string is a bit sharp at the octave but at that frequency it's unnoticeable to my ear but not to the tuner. I ran out of saddle adjustment.

Well, as promised (after a month of waiting), here's a pic of my new Epiphone Thunderbird Classic-IV Pro.
I was going to take a shot of it next to my rig but I didn't end up making it to my jam, as I shattered my car's rear window when I closed my hatch on the tip of my speaker cab & spent an hour cleaning that mess up. :(

Here it is next to my Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass Satin.
They're almost polar opposites in colour scheme. lol

Is it possible to get chrome tuner paddles by themselves instead of replacing the entire tuner? I'd like to swap the paddles rather than replacing all the machines on my Epi Goth. I suspect I already know the answer to that question, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway.

If it's a Goth, wouldn't you want to keep it all black? That said, I replaced the tuners on my Gibson and the Hipshot tuners look and perform better than the Grovers. Cost about $100 to replace them if that matters.

Thanks Mark I feel the same.:) Me and Tbirds go way back I have been playing them exclusively since '76. I got my first NR in '78 and never looked back. I don't have a exact count but I have at least 5 60's NRs and 15 others Thunderbirds of various stripes.

Most of my basses have Rotosound RS 66LD one them. Fortunately these are available locally. Flats I use on Hofners and my fretless basses I buy off ebay, same for the occasional B string for the one bass I have strung BEAD. $8.54 shipped sounds like a deal to me.

I wish I could buy local... just taking a drive and buying what I want would be excellent but GC doesn't carry much variety and they're my only music store even close and they're a 25 minute drive one-way just to have them tell me, "I can order it for you."

I did buy my Chromatic tuner from them the last time I was in though so I do try to buy brick and mortar whenever possible.
