Thunderbird Club

Can I join? I have an epi pro 4. I looks great but sounds pretty bad. I love the tbird body but I think the epi pro 4 classic would be a better bass because it doesn't come with the cheap active pickups.
The Gibson Humbuckers and the neck were what drew me to the Classic-IV PRO. It wasn't that the Pro IV sounded bad as much as it was the Gibson Humbucker pickups sounded better.

I just got my 2013, new with plastic on the pickguard, in case, unharmed, case candy ebony Thunderbird delivered yesterday. Woah. I've avoided Gibson basses for the last 20 years. I still love my Fenders but, dang, what I've been missing. The tone is so classic. And the weight is perfect. The neck is a little sticky, but the right width and front to back perfect.

Sorry if this has been answered before but I'm having trouble finding anything due to the overlapping names. What's the difference between the electronics in the Epi Classic IV Pro and Pro-IV?

The Epiphone Pro has an active pre amp, 7 ply neck thru construction -

The "Classic Pro is passive with USA Gibson pick ups and 9 ply construction.

I've finally got a bag to tote my TBirds around in. This bag is ginormous! Decent padding but it wouldn't qualify as a travel bag, IMO. It'll serve well when my bass won't be leaving my sight. It'll definitely be better than the OHSC with its multiple handles and backpack straps.
