Seeing as we are completely off the rails, I hit a estate sale in Buffalo NY today, lots of aviation memorabilia and model kits. It was well worth the trip! If my budget was unlimited I could have come home with 10× this.
all AWESOME!!! HE-111 and the Chance Vought F7!! Didn't even know they made a kit of that plane. you got great taste. That F3F-2 remains my favorite all time Grumman design. I built the Diels Engineering stick and tissue model and it actually flew pretty well years ago.....The Flying Barrel!!...reminiscent of the Gee Bee Super Sportsters....what a wonderful period in aviation...

Love that stuff. And the P51D is still one of the sexiest planes ever made. If I were rich, I'd own one and get my pilot license.
there's a couple of privately locally owned 51's that fly around often. waking up to the sound of those Merlins doesn't bother me one bit..
I knew next to nothing about the F7 other than it's general outline until just now. If any of you aren't familiar with it, read the Wikipedia article. Especially the peach basket landing.

I had a left thumb injury a few years ago, so I played my 67 EBO for a few gigs. It didn’t take long to adjust. And sounded surprisingly good through an Ampeg B2rE and classic 210 cab.
A jazz is what I associate with JPJ.

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear "It does grind". I am working up a project build and that is the pup I was strongly leaning toward, along with one of Scott's @godofthunder59 bad bird bridges. The neck I have on order is taking longer than expected but With my work schedule about to kick into high gear I won't have time to worry about it anyway.
The Cat Tail arrived with a broken diode selector (silicon or LED) which, happily, was stuck in silicon position, but cutting out a bit here and there. Seems it was bounced in shipping. While waiting for the insurance, I tried to buy a new switch for it yesterday, but the city electronics parts shop is out of mini toggle DPDT on/off/on switches and websites are all saying 'awaiting order'. I just removed the switch and hard-wired it and it tested fine. Inclined to leave it as is. One less thing to snap off.

My other TB hangout is the FX forum, mainly for reading and occasional smartarsery. Have to say that FX is often exhausting to read. Thunderbird Club much less so. Carry on.

I didn't know about the Jazz. The slab P is what I think of when I think of JPJ's bass. Once you go down a rabbit hole, you may as well keep going as far as it goes.
