Jeez! Those would chew my 73 y/o 'delicate digits'-and 52 y/o frets-to shreds.

It's ok Mike, there have to be a couple of heretics here anyway.

What he was doing wasn't technically illegal, so far as I know. He was banking on the small amount of leverage he had, knowing what the instrument was selling for and seeing if he could get a slightly higher price. He was just an opportunistic middle man. Call it shady if you like, but it's just arbitrage. That's how the finance industry works, for the most part. And, I better stop now, or I'll end up on a soap box.
Sorry. It is illegal to offer for sale specific property that you do not own or do not have an agreement to sell. It’s called fraud.

Wow this is an insanely long thread. Stoked to see all the TB love.
I recent bought a new Epiphone TB pro. Love the feel but having a hell of a time getting any mid/high tone out of it. First thought was trash strings even though only a couple months old and hardly played, that helped a tiny bit. Adjusted the picks to be closer to the strings, no real change in tone. I am guessing its the pickups that are so crazy dull. Does this make sense or should I look elsewhere? For comparison I am also playing a Squire skull 4 string and an Ibanez SR405(active so not expecting anything close).

I don't think anything is going to sound quite like your '64.

Before we answer your question, you must read the entirety of this thread. There will be a 3 hour exam.

Strings will make a big difference, DR Stainless Rounds, you'll hear some others chime in too.

Test? No, the exam. Do you have the rubber gloves and the liquidiser? Oh, wait @Gaolee has the liquidiser, along with the trusty theremin. Nevermind we can use the arc-welder instead...

If i remember correctly, @hillerup has all the necessary equipment for the exam. Problem is, i think he's in retirement.
Besides, electrical power stations were blown up during the procedure.
