Roger, you made think back, it's been 42 years that I've known that Thunderbirds were the bass for me. A bandmate at the time brought his older brother's '76 to rehearsal for me to try - I loved it, more so than my 4001 Rick.

I got my first 37 years ago T-Bird in 1982 if the new math still works ('64 VI in the avitar), after seeing and hearing Leon Wilkenson playing one a few years before. Never, ever has the thought of selling it ever begun to form on a synapse. Picked up my '76 a few years ago. Christmas present from my wife, actually. I've got some really cool vintage basses, but the '64 is in a league of it's own. And it's so cool looking it sounds good unplugged. The '64 is likely the lightest and most comfortable to play, even with a little neck dive.

I would suggest picking one person per song and staring at them intensely throughout the song. Without blinking if possible. If there is a bass solo, get as close to them as you can for the solo. If there is no bass solo, add one.*

And ... thinking about it ... the AC30 is a bit of a hipster cliché around here atm. You could go for years without seeing a Vox amp and now everyone with a man bun has one, or a Fneder tweed reissue.

A lot of places if you can wait, almost anything you're interested in will go out of style and you can pick one up fairly cheap. Austin is too much a musicians' town for that. I mean, you might luck out now and then, but you won't suddenly find that no one wants an AC30.
