Thunderbird Club

Do you mean maple will be expensive? Looking for used.
No, no more than rosewood to my knowledge, the combination would be like a 7enderbird, which is cool. The was a Lull Non Reverse at The Bass Shop that had Dark Stars and a maple neck, I did play it briefly but not enough to form an opinion. If I recall that bass is owned by one of our club members though.

In sitting around waiting for my guitarist to return from FNQ (yes, that's as sweary as it sounds) news, she has declared for Orange amplification. Other people's GAS is often just as enjoyable as one's own. The AD30 is a monster. The funny thing is the 212 that goes with it is only 3kg lighter than my SVT212AV bass cab.
A guitar player friend has an Orange rig with a 212. Great sound, but it can be unpleasantly loud.

What's the rating on the head? Not that there's much difference between a 30 and a 50. Open back cabinets help a bit. You can 'share' with the drummer.
I think it's a 50w. I had to walk by him, while he was playing, passing in front of him once. My god... if I could ever remember being attacked with great force and very forward intent, with handfuls of large, pointy needles, by someone hopped up on Angel Dust, it was like that.

Otherwise, he's a pretty good player and a real nice guy. I like Orange amps, for guitar mostly.

And ... thinking about it ... the AC30 is a bit of a hipster cliché around here atm. You could go for years without seeing a Vox amp and now everyone with a man bun has one, or a Fneder tweed reissue.
I hear ya on the hipster gear, see some of that here as well.

I could be wrong (it's happened once or twice that I can recall) but I'd predict that man buns will go out of style before AC30s do.

Seems like the venerable AC30 has already outlasted - Beatle haircuts, hippie longhair, monster afros, disco glamour cuts, big hair glamrock styles, grunge locks, dreadlocks, mullets, and now we have top knots and man buns in the running. Always interesting to see how each generation tries to identify itself with a unique look. Makes one wonder what's next.

I quite like the frisson of James Patrick Page that comes with Orange as well. For some reason he's much more likeable as an owld fvcker.

A buddy flies into town tomorrow to play guitar at Rick Elias’ memorial service on Sunday. He needed an amp, so a buddy loaned me a custom shop AC15. I don’t care who does or doesn’t play em, this thing is a beast of an amp...can’t wait to record it!

Didn't know that OF'er Jimmy had gone Orange.
Here he is in black and white at the fair age of 14....

...now think back, what were you doing at the age of 14?

I did have mine chrome plated (it was expensive) and did have it on the N.S. Mk. II but I knew I'd never get the money out of it so I kept it and put the stock PG on it when it was sold.
Here it's laying on top of the stock PG on my '89, it would fit this bass but the pup rout could potentially show and it would require drilling all new holes - Something I don't want to do to this bass. Same story for the '76s, not a match there either.

Well loved backside of a "player" no "relicing".
