Hey folks! Just had a NBD today, and based on the advice of @TBird1958, I’m dropping a linky here:
NBD Gibson Thunderbird content
As you may imagine, I’m still finding my way around this Thunderbird.
The nut width is very narrow, but the neck thickness is not too shallow. That works for me.
I’ve figured out that I need to get an extended strap. At full length, my regular straps hold this bass a few inches higher than I like.
I need to figure out what you guys do for gig bags. The Thunderbird is a couple inches too long for my Mono M80 Dual. I’ve been using that bag for a few years, constantly. Now it looks like I’ll be lugging that sarcophagus of a Gibson case around until I work out something.
I currently carry all my heavy gear in the boot of my Camry, and throw my gig bag across the footwell of the back seat. That’s been my setup for Years, and has been perfect for a few hundred gigs.
I’d like to not change this setup when I take the TBird, so I’m interested in your tales of logistical adventure.
I'd like to welcome Felix Lopez as #762, with a nice Epi and (I think) a Gibson on the way from Sweetwater as well,
Please feel free to join the conversation, generally we're a pretty easy going group, don't be afraid to ask lots of questions, we like them!

I just have to share one of ChErRy ... She also has a Babicz !

NoScru™ solid .060 Nickel Silver, those are powdercoated, standard are polished. Complete with 3M mounting tape. Correct 1960s shape and inner/outer radii but fit today's metric cans. Tape leaves no residue on most finishes, including Nitro, so they do no harm. Also available with .060 ABS spacers for the height challenged.Very nice! This may be just what I need for my 2013. Please tell me more about these.

They're exclusive...and expensive.
Last one died about four years ago. A nice 32” Sony Trinitron with surprisingly good sound from the built-in speakers. They don’t make ‘em like that any more. I paid like $1000 for it in the late nineties. It was top ‘O the line in its day. Got almost twenty years out of it.One thing at a time... I am also now interested in the number of club members that have artisanal SD TVs
I find pouting to be useful![]()
Good eye on the Fenders, those are my hippie mojo twins (paisley and flower telecasters). As for the Hellbourgs, yes I did install them on something Gibson powered but for the life of me I can't remember which one. I can only assume I didn't like them that much on that bass since they're all coiled up and back in the package. That's ok, plenty of other basses to try them on.Dude! Shoes?
Although, you put the 7enders on hangers to move them out of the shot, they are still apparent in the reflection on the back of the Thunderbird.
Have you put the Jonas Hellbourgs on anything yet, and if so, what and how do you like it?

As far as socks go, all mine are black, and of the same maker. So no worries about a miss match there. Grab and go.
I definitely have more basses than i need, i fully admit that, compensating for something i guess.
And no, you can just wipe that thought right out of your mind.![]()

No 8 tracks?Well, for openers, it's a blanket that my bro-in-law threw over that stuff when he took the pic(which is why it's clearer than my usual pics). There's a console stereo, an antique(or just old)clock, some CDs and cassettes and some other stuff that belonged to my parents under the blanket. The tv works, btw, and I rarely watch that one so no point in replacing it.
As you so wisely noted, look what the big brown truck just dropped off at my door today...It's a bloke thing -- always having more guitars/basses than they need, always having more socks than they need. Just because they can.
I do the same with socks. Aside from some nicer and novelty dress socks, I have a $#!+ ton of black or gray socks by Vans. That makes it easy on me to get ready when I am up before God getting ready for work.
I also have more basses than I need or deserve, but it makes me happy so I don't really care.![]()
And down the Rabbit hole one again. I’m hungry for cherry pie.
Congrats! You’ll love the ‘15. It’s a tone machine.I'm the guilty one. I grabbed it shortly after JJR58 posted a heads up on the ad. It will be a nice addition to my collection and I'm curious to A-B it against my 2013. I've only played with tapped coil pickups on guitars. Should be fun. Pics when it arrives.
Nice Bird G-rope. Grab a beer and the opinions will flow.
Sit back and relax. If a gig bag is what you're lookin for, my humble suggestion would be a Gator Pro Go.
