Thunderbird Club

We like mountains. The son went to NAU. We enjoyed our quarterly trips to Flag. Nice town. The growth in the last ten years has been phenomenal. And it has become pricy; we’ve looked there a bit. Those of us who have a few years to go before retiring are finding there aren’t a lot of hidden gems left. Like Genoa and the Carson Valley in NV. Too many Cali refugees.

My daughter graduated from NAU as well. Was nice to head north to see snow for a weekend while she was there. Prescott is cheaper and doesn't get as cold so I think it fits me well enough. Still cheaper than both Phx and Flagstaff as well.

I've had it in my head for a while now, to put a Stratus neck on a bird with a carbon fiber pg, you beat me to it Andy! Sexy as all git out!

Thanks!! Can't take all the credit but replacing the guard with the carbon fiber just seemed like a no brainer. This one reminds me of the 80's 7ender Jazz Special with the slight metallic white finish and the black neck. The JS is still my favorite 7ender. This bass is fantastic so far! All top quality parts and plays really well.

Gibson question:
I picked up my 67 EBO the other day and realized how sketchy the tuners are. Anybody know of a direct replacement that looks close?

No sketchier than any other vintage Kluson, including the ones on '60s 'birds. I have those on 4 of my Gibsons, '65 & '67 EB0s, '67 EB2, and '75 Grabber.

Tighten the big shaft screw after lightly oiling the gears, snug up the plate screws. Keep your strings wrapped tight (2 full wraps around each post minimum) and they'll work fine for another 50 years. That's what it says in the owners manual.

It’s rough and ready and there to be played - doesn’t sound half bad either

Thinking about it, the 30 year old strings are probably not helping!

I’ve just had a 2 day course on a quantitative risk analysis model. One of the first in Australia of this model I gather, and the booklets were still in US terminology and a US guy came over as instructor.
So it was all gallons, miles etc plus the chances of being attacked by a Grizzly Bear... caused some amusement as those chances are pretty bloody low in Australia; and especially so in Sydney unless jumping into the enclosure at Taronga Park Zoo.

Two peoples separated by a common language. :D

We'll send you some grizzlies. Some kudzu, too. All the kudzu.

'Nother trip to Orlando today(145 miles). Earlyish start means fewer love bugs-hopefully.
Update: worked-5 minutes with a hose-done.:hyper:

I remember people using standoff-mounted plexiglass grill protectors so their radiators wouldn't clog up and overheat. And soda (or better yet just carbonated water) cleans those bugs right off the windshield.

Now I forget which Thunderbird we're talking about. If it's a VP, I'd be all over Ken Smiths, due to their longer winding length.

That's the biggest light saber I've ever seen.

I thought the same - made V look like a miniature doll standing next to it! :)

Arnold, Murphy's and other towns like Angels Camp and Mariposa in the Sierra foothills are still an in state option..
really nice that way..used to be really cheap but the wine tours and yuppies are ruining that too..

Screens work too. You can take 'em off and spray from behind. I sprayed (generic) Pam on the hood. Came right off.[the bugs, not the hood]
