Thunderbird Club

Yeah, since I mentioned the colours, it has been known as Ikea Stadium.

It has a 12 channel Mackie mixer with a range of FX and a JBL EON 615 PA for vocals (and drum machine until we find a new drummer).

So many great drum machine apps for your tablet for next to nothing. Patterning2 is a personal favorite

Thanks. I've never tired them. I'm not a fan of DA strings. Non distinct sounding, but in in the dark about the NYXLs.

I tried the GHS Pressurewounds on the old Embassy tonight and it sounded really good, but not "wow!" good. I need something with more bite in the mids and a little more crispness in the highs (but not glassy or brittle). I'm going to have to consider those DAs. Thanks for the suggestion.

How would you describe them?

I used GHS Progressives on my '64 T-bird for years. I still like them. I have the NYXL's on it now - 50/105's. I'm not good describing how they sound other than they sound good to my ears. Here's a recording of GHS Progressives on my Saundersbird (2 Wilkinson buckers) - I like they way they record. I dial for a warm distinct tone with enough mid-range to ... cut through. :)

This is an example of the D'Addario's on my Teiscobird - 1 Darkstar pu

I just live in my own world, only to please myself. OK, Ahem if need be.

Thanks!!

I think I like clip 2 the best, but it's hard to tell how much is bass related. Really appreciate this.

I posed the question out in gen pop ... one reply so far, saying the Elf is "Louder, better tone, more robust, no comparison".
I haven't compared them, but did buy after playing one at our local big-box music super-center of the known universe.
After learning that TC Electronic was purchased by Behringer, I'm les impressed with them. Don't know if it's a meaningful sentiment, but I tend to go there. I just wouldn't want to see you poorly treated or shrugged off if there was an issue. Peavey has always had very good customer service.

Yah, not being a demo vid, so many things come into play when comparing. I like both strings but have leaned toward D'Addario's of late. (XLBT's)

No, Bill Gates is quite alive ;). Bill Gates description of what he wanted from windows was that it be a computer simple enough for his grandmother to use.

The great visionaries in technology appear to be strongly of the opinion that users need not be coders, mathematicians, or engineers to use a computer; users should just be able to get on with doing what they want to do. The great revolution in computing was taking the CPU away from the IT department techies and putting it on the desk of the user so that the user could decide what was the important process to run, not the IT department.
I’m assuming Bill’s grandmother was, like him, a genius and not like most people.

Well, the kiddo was having her piano lesson today and as I normally do, I wandered around.

And there I saw them...

Sitting in the used rack...

A pair of Behringer pedals - an OD300 (overdrive distortion) and an OC300 (octave). C$15 each.

Pedal snobs be damned, it's a cheap experiment. I could drink that value in beer in a couple of hours.

So, the octave does not sound good on bass. It might be good on guitar. It will either move on to my brother or will go back (love that 30 day return at L&M, if only I could do the same with beer).

The distortion is noisy. At low gain, it is actually pretty good. But as soon as you bump up that gain knob, it gets way too much gain real fast. It is probably going back. I think I need something klon-ish like an EHX Bass Soulfood.
