Been quite lucky in that respect. It may have taken three goes to get a preamp I didn't hate, but the RAT clone is just fantastic in a stupid grin sort of way.
That's great. I just find that demos tend to have stuff cranked up way too high for my tastes. And then they'll finally tone that gain down and then turn the tone down at the same time, which I'd never do. Can't win. Fortunately here, at least, there are ways to try this stuff out risk-free.

Yes - one benefit. Here you have to find out who sells them, find out if they have stock, wait three months, probably mailorder, try them out, flip them, rinse, repeat.

I haven't, but I am loving the EB Cobalt flats. I guessed at the set and they're a little low tension; the V needs more front bow. Unfortunately my metric hex keys have disappeared.
The on sale set I ordered from Jason’s new shop should be here today. I understand Gbass is no longer infatuated with them on his ‘15, but I’m going to try them on mine to hear for myself.

They are traditionally underrated, but typically make solid, roadworthy, good sounding gear.
Old Peavey is about equivalent to ACC in a lot of ways. Loud, heavy, big, indestructible. A little cruder than ACC but still great in a 1970s solid state way. I think of Carvin in the same way, up to whatever it was that happened a year or two ago. Cheap and way better than it has a right to be. And a great value as used gear.

What is Jasons company named again? I keep forgetting to write it down...

I'll bear that in mind, although atm, our singer is fully into the drum programming.
Glad you are getting help with the work-maintenance portion of the band.

And just like Peavey, John Taylor (who plays them) is traditionally underrated, but typically solid, roadworthy, and good sounding.

I think bass players are usually the ones to do the lions-share of band work. I know that's true with my band. I have help from our guitarist, but as for our drummer (love him) showing up is as much as we can expect. I'd like if they could help beating the bushes for gigs and going over material before rehearsal - but it is what it is and as long as I stay on top of things, it's all good. Doing a good show together is always my payback. :bassist:
