Thunderbird Club

Glad you are getting help with the work-maintenance portion of the band.

I think bass players are usually the ones to do the lions-share of band work. I know that's true with my band. I have help from our guitarist, but as for our drummer (love him) showing up is as much as we can expect. I'd like if they could help beating the bushes for gigs and going over material before rehearsal - but it is what it is and as long as I stay on top of things, it's all good. Doing a good show together is always my payback. :bassist:

It really is good to have someone else helping (she may have already found us a drummer). Our guitarist is a fantastic player but works crazy hours atm, so all I can expect in the short term is she does her thing when she turns up.

Ok I’m skipping a hunch of posts(336 to be exact) and that count is likely going up as I type.

Om on with the post, the Labellas arent cuttin it! Dang that was more money than I wanted to experiment with. Next up - love their flats, lets see what rounds do on the Allen Woody. Heck Allen used rounds.

Wow, haven't thought of VMS in quite a long time. I do unix sysadmin. Last time I touched VMS I think was the early 90s.

Late 80s for me, overlapping with my early Unix years. I've been mainly Unix/Linux ever since, though I use Macs as well.
There are things I miss about VMS that I really wish *nix had copied.

Macs are a perfect desktop OS for doing unix admin I think. I really don't remember much about VMS. Didn't it have better process management?

I use the hybrids 45 -105 on my USA Peavy Foundation with the ferrite pickups. I love them on that bass. Lots of J-like tone. Almost birdy. They do have a rep for not lasting very long. The set I’m using has about six months on them, but admittedly, I have have too many basses so they have relatively few hours on them. Sound great to me. And the price is right.

I don't loathe shopping there, I've just deliberately never set foot in one! ;)

With the money I save by shopping wisely, be it Walmart, Ebay, or direct from China, I'm able to own my house, shop, three sports cars, a truck , and four motorcycles free and clear...oh yeah, and about 40 basses and a dozen amps.

A corporation is a corporation is a corporation. The only place I won't shop is Amazon.

I plan to put them back on the '15 soon.

So they arrived. Thank you Jason. Going on the ‘15 this weekend. Any tips? Neck relief, bees d**k string height, pickup height? I’ll do a full setup with fret polish, F1 on the board...I’ll keep them on for a while and give them a shot. I’m replacing 7ender 7250s (nothing particularly wrong with them) I think. But I play the ‘15 the most of all my basses and love the feel of flats. Can’t wait to find out how they’ll work.

I have 2 pieces of Behringer gear: an XR18 digital mixer and an FCB1010 foot controller. Both work well.
So my brother, a decent guitar player (better than me) came across a 15 watt Behringer bass amp in a thrift store. It was a faux old school style combo amp. He gave them $20 for it. It sounds surprisingly good with our Strats. Really good. I plugged a couple of basses in. Unusable for bass. At any volume and at any setting.
