Thunderbird Club

The only thread on talkbass where J’s aren't universally loved :)
I’ve owned several. Just couldn’t make em work for me. I think they look nice, play great, balance well...all that, and of course lots of people make great music on em. Just not me! I could rock a JBird though

Did cross my mind to photograph my three Birds hanging on their straps, but I'm too tired and grumpy.

The only 'reachy' Bird was the Pro IV, all the others are within normal parameters.

A grumpy kat? Like this?

Man, music is stressful sometimes. Trying out for a new band next week and have to learn a few of their songs. I've long resisted doing that since I'd rather make my own stuff, but existing bands at least have history and are moving. Exception was the band I filled in for, which Jeff saw. Usually I prefer to start something from the ground up, but that requires finding a drummer, etc. always a trade-off I guess.

Well, the kiddo had her music lesson this evening. So I took some time to go through L&M and see what's new. Well, this is what is new:

I played around with it. Wow! It is a great drive pedal. Blend a clean signal into a grindy signal. It is unbelievably good (ok, it is probably believable).

But I also tried

It isn't as good as the Geddy pedal, but it is also really good 95% as good as the YYZ.

But the YYZ is C$270 and the Hotwax is C$140. The Geddy pedal is not C$130 better; to my mind, the Geddy pedal is up to C$50 better.

The MXR M89 Bass Overdrive isn't working for me. The clean blend does not bring in enough clean for me and the drive knob gives way too much way too soon. So, I think it is going back for a Hotwax.

M85! M85! M85!

Oh I’m going to. But not for a bird. My 7ender Mustang PJ is getting a set of decent tuners to replace the totally crapola ones it came with.

I love the Babicz bridge on the ‘15 (I DON’T WINDMILL!) and I’m content enough for now with the three point on the Goth.
