I finally had something good happen at the end of 2015! On the 23rd my Mom passed away due to complications of dementia. She was mostly sedated for the previous week and was 85. She fell asleep here and woke up with Jesus, which is as much as anybody can ask for, if you ask me. So, because of an impending trip to San Diego in the next couple weeks for all that goes with that, I hadda put the new Schaller BM Light tuning machine machines on layaway instead of getting that instant gratification that we all crave. I decided that I'd get myself some lottery tickets and made some money, so I was able to throw a couple bucks at the lawayway with that. Next, a dude who'd been dragging his feet about buying an old computer of mine finally came through, so I was able to duck out of work and pay off the layaway while dropping off Chocolate Love to have them drop 'em in. I don't have a work area to install them bad boys, so I left it with Music Central. They'll be installed on Monday and I'll be able to pick it up on the way home from work. Not bad!

Totally. The days before Christmas I was walking around miserable, anticipating a personal family ugliness to come... Not comparing here Haji, just relating. Holidays can be rough stuff. Glad to have this little group to hang with all the more!

You post an interesting observation about the funk on a Thunderbird, as I have noticed the same. I'm sure I suck as a player, and figures into that.
Anyone care to expand on using the Bird for funk? EQ or playing style change needed or is the Bird not a funk machine?

I for one, feel the ThunderBird is quite versatile as a bass. If I were playing funk on it, I'd simply roll off the neck pup for a little more bite. ThunderBuckers on mine.

Slapping is another matter, but I think it's an issue of the wood as opposed to pickups, at least to some degree. I think the maple bolt-on of a Fender adds to the snappiness of the sound that the mahogany/neck-through of the TBird, cannot do. Of course, the opposite is true in that what I like about the qualities of the Gibson, can not be replicated by a Fender.

The show went great! We sold out the bar, they reserved tables with NYE goodies at over $100.00 apiece as well. Trisha did a fine job considering it was her first time ever playing out dressed - a few boo-boos but nothing tragic, the rest of us just played through, the crowd probably barely notices, we as musicians of course are more critical. Overall tho, everybody was happy and she's a really nice bandmate. The purse was nice too, 2 comped hotel rooms and 2K to split between the 5 of us, not bad for 3 sets of music.
