Yep, I've been having fun posting on that one. Unfortunately, it only takes one troll to wake up the entire Fender fan club who then feel obliged to perpetuate every rumor (stated as fact) that they've ever heard about Gibsons. The OP has another thread where he claims the superiority of Fender, Squier and Schecter over all other brands. Quite comical really.

Klondike - sorry about your grief on the new bass day. I don't envy your position.
FWIW - I don't think there's any chance of the shipping company agreeing to take responsibility for the damage after you show them the photo of the inside of the box. The outside of the box doesn't look crushed or punctured. It's not really shipping damage, it's obviously not been packed per their guitar shipment guidelines (I think you can get a copy of those on line at the FedEx or UPS site). I suspect they will just kick it back to the seller as his fault and void the insurance. If you paid on PayPal or with a credit card I'd be looking for an immediate refund and returning the now "parts bass" to the seller. Hate it when that happens.

Hi/thx for response. I got it August 2015 from Sam Ash. It is Sunburst (see pic).

The production models of the vintage sunburst differ quite a lot in colors ranging from very orangey/red to very dark "tobacco" burst and just about everything in between... Some of the dark burst have almost opaque head stocks, but you will find them to be two-tone in the right light setting, like for instance sunlight as opposed to fluorescent lightning or similar.

The Gibson can get really funky if you want. Mine does, anyway. EB Cobalt Flats seem to be really good on it. They let it calm way down or crank up, depending on how hard you dig in. I may have a different idea of funky than you do, though.

I shipped an amplifier by UPS, all crated up in a wood crate and with foam padding. UPS still managed to drop it hard enough to break the speaker cone. I know it was fine before shipping, since I played a gig with it, and it worked like it should. When it arrived, it was damaged, but without a whole lot of obvious damage to the crate. I'm guessing they dropped it something like five feet flat on its back. Who knows. I was really angry about it, and the amp was insured. UPS messed around for a long time then denied the claim. I won't use UPS for that reason. So, I'm pretty slow to blame the seller. The shipping company? I'll go after them right away, since they have screwed things up for me in a big way.

Yeah, we get'em about once every other week in the Effects forum and it drives a lot of the guys bananas, understandably, might I add. You have to wonder why people, even with nothing to do and all the time they want in their hands, would even bother to write something like that.

Loss is lousy. But when people leave they leave us something good, I think. If we're lucky we get to use it.

I dig that headstock.
