I grew up with my Polish grandmother - an accordion is what my parents would have loved me to be interested in/play back when I was a kid! But I only wanted a guitar (of some sort!) Oh well... so much for an accordion like Lawrence Welk played!

And... I was very well behaved and did not mention that I’ve been asking him to turn down for 3 years

That's my most Gibson sounding Fender along side my most Fender sounding Gibson. Both companies knocked it out of the park with these basses. And both companies promptly discontinued their models.

Well if some scientific predictions are correct, 30 years is about all we have left for Earth to support life. I really hope it's something akin to scare tactics to get our sh1t together.

I did get a previous answer, describing a different hand position and I'm working on that.

On my other basses, my natural reflex is to play them the way you do and have my hand on or near the bridge and pick or fingerpick over or a tad left of the bridge pick-up (always both pick-ups ON). I like the sound, it's comfortable and I like the string tension at that point.

On a TBird, that position is a challenge, my arms are probably not long enough to cover the other end and give me the same comfort I have with the Fenders. Not giving up yet, still have the rental until July 19th !

I just assume that he is tuned to open E and is playing a one chord song. I bet his singing is every bit as good as his guitar playing. I would say more but that probably crosses the no politics line.

Well I was digging around and found some EB Colbalt Flats I forgot I had! Several had mentioned Cobalts on their Birds and I was really curious about them on my VP. Possibly they were thinking rounds not flats, I don't recall--but flats are what I have, so on they went. They do sound good at home--which means they will likely not sound all that good elsewhere in a larger setting. I'll find out tomorrow. Had Sunbeams on it for rehearsal the other night and they sounded as good as anything thus far. Next try will likely be TI Jazz Rounds if the EBs don't do the trick. The Jazz Rounds are on my old Epi Embassy and sound amazing.

One of our ilk here sent me an installed/immediately uninstalled set of EB Regular Slinkys, 50-105. I put them on the 2013 Epi Classic, and they're not necessarily so bright as I thought they'd be- I like them! They're full, lots of low-mids in the right way, at once dark/round, and just a hair raspy. The growl is closer to the lower registers in my ear.
I'm still eqing them in, some notes are disappearing at rehearsal. That could be from a number of factors, but they feel good and are doing something I like- better that the KS Burners I'd had on there previously.

I like the feel of slinkys, but not the sound. At the time, different rigs, they just sounded a little hallow and no real thickness. But that was then. A lot of people love them. Just didn't do anything for me at the time. Don't think I have set around the house. But neither to D'As. I don't get why they are so popular (availability maybe). In my uses they are the most bland RW I think I've ever played. In fact, I don't like anything D'A makes, and I've tried. I have several relatively new sets that came on basses. They are so cheap it's not worth selling them. But I digress....

Over the decades I've learned to not get too worked up over any gloom and doom being pushed by scientists, especially relating to climate and health claims. It never comes true and frequently is exactly the opposite of what they predict.
This recent one is a perfect example...

Had a funny experience the other night. We had a show at the local Vinnies during their dinner service for the local needy. It so happened that the accordionist had his wife with him. She hung around with us so as to not interfere with the service.

Afterward we asked her for her opinion. All good except ‘the accompaniment was too loud” . Poor bloke looked a bit crestfallen.

I feel for him. No matter my volume, it’s always too loud.

I like the sound of slinkys on my guitars where I change strings frequently. However, I've yet to find a slinky that lasted more than a couple of weeks on my basses. Exception being Cobalt Flats, which seem to hold their sound a good long time.

I recall an environmental studies class in the 8th grade. Teacher was convinced we would see an ice age during our lifetime.

Yes, I have a jacket and belt I wear with these shoes. No suit though, just button fly jeans and a white, pink or blue dress shirt.
