'93 22 fret (gen1) American Standard J - upgrades include Nordstrand NJ4's, Schaller 3D bridge, custom cut pearl pg, different V knobs, Schaller deluxe tuners. Nut, neck plate and string tree are original! Body has been chambered for (some) weight reduction under the pg - still 9lbs/5oz.

Actually, I think the ‘15 is quite nice for all of it.

Any one of them could actually do all of it if set up right.

The strings I have on the 2015 right now and the EQ I'm running on my amp combine to put out massive lows and low mids. It's like Chuck Norris kicking you in the gut while Bruce Lee punches you in the chest. I have all my other birds set up much less aggressive. The way I have the 2015 focused right now is perfect for a hard driving bass line but not quite enough finesse for laid back smooth jazz passages.

But you're correct, with the right strings and the right EQ this bass could just as easily do smooth jazz.

The pickguard looks really good. That material would look good on a 'Bird, too.

That J needs ashtrays, though. Especially the bridge cover. I'm not a J fan (surprise!), but aside from all that I gotta admit that I love the enormous bridge covers with a stamped in "F".

Found this old pic of my 1st Bird today, an Epi Classic Pro IV, while cleaning up old files in my office laptop. I know she found a nice home after mine, so I'm good.

Still working out on the rental bolt-on model, which sounds surprisingly nice ! If things go slightly my way, either this model or an Epi Vintage Pro (all in vintage burst) should make its way back to my place this summer.

LOL - those are Steve Madden Smoking Shoes. Just a fun little pair of loafers I wear around the house and on party type occasions. Get on eBay and check out "smoking shoes" there's tons of really off the wall fun ones out there. Great for the stage too.
