So many presume to know what is going on within Gibson, but the truth is that we don't know. Some have the background to make better educated guesses than others. As always, it is the empty vessels that make the most noise.

As for the bashers, we know that the 7ender bashers are all here, right?

Of course! Why else would this thread exist?

I have no idea what's going on within Gibson, or about current QC. There was definitely a time years ago (maybe 20? I don't recall exactly) when I could walk into any store and pick up a Gibson LP and an Epi LP, and the Gibson would have fret issues, and very possibly assembly and finish issues. The Epi would be perfect other than cheaper electronics and likely bridge and tuners. The latter were price point choices, easy to fix- not QC issues.

OTOH, that ~10 y/o Epi Pro V I bought clearly had some QC issues both in terms of parts and assembly, but the 6 or 7 y/o Epi IV has been great. I haven't heard of anyone complaining about Gibson Thunderbird QC lately that I can recall, either.

Not cheating. I know a very well respected/highly paid management consultant who arranged his schedule around being able to attend every show on the Rolling Stones Bigger Bang tour. He was convinced that either Mick or Keef would drop dead on stage (one of the riders was that there must be an AED (automated external defibrillator) at both stage left and stage right).

So I got to see the Stones from good seats in Toronto but he has not yet attended the last Stones show.

Unfortunately it is a government job. You think that working for a big business is bad? Government ups the bureaucracy, decreases the accountability and decision making, and maximizes the political correctness.

I challenge anyone to find fault with my 2019 LP, my 2005 FB or 2013 TB. People can rail all they want about Gibson's QC but if some random guy from Massachusetts can get 100% satisfaction on 3 separate instruments bought on 3 separate occasions, I think it's safe to say that they are nowhere near as bad as 'they' would have us thing ('they' being the vocal Gibson bashers of the interwebs)

I have no issues with any of the Gibsons I have. That's three 'Birds, a 2013 EB, and a late '60s EB-2. I would love to have an ES-335 or ES-330, and an ES-125 or maybe a Super 400. But all of those are way out of my economic scope unless I sell a whole lot of stuff.

Actually, I suspect they were playing games when they got busted by the feds. Or they were sloppy. Either way, it's Henry J's legacy of mismanagement. They seem to be righting the ship a bit, however awkwardly. I hope the internal misery is changing. Unhappy guitar builders are not a good way to crank out high quality work, although I haven't personally seen the low quality that get alleged all the time. As long as Gibson survives to build again, there's hope. I don't really care what the bashers have to say. There are Fender bashers, Ric bashers, and probably every other kind of guitar bashers. Sometimes they have a point. Sometimes they don't.

I have seen a newish Gibson Tbird with finish flaws. My Epiphones were better when new. The JC was flawless and my VP has one tiny speck of dust on the back.

Not bashing Gibson - just stating what I observed. I like Gibsons.

Can't say I've ever played Baby metal, Neurofunk or Zydeco. But if I did, I would most certainly use a FSO, which probably explains why I don't play many of my FSOs these days.

As for Freakbeat, if it's anything like Club Dub, I use the 2015.
The VP does Psychobilly but it stays strapped on, no upright skills here.
