Need some advice. You audition for a band and prepare three of their songs. The guitarist basically insists on you playing a couple of the parts as he wants them, instead of how you did them. Is this ok or does it get into the territory of, "If you tell me what to play you'd better be paying me?"

You are also evaluating them, so if you don’t think you can work with the guitarist, at least you found out early

It better be made out of nice wood like mahogany or maple with a really nice finish! And airholes; I want air holes top and bottom so that I get some fresh air flowing through.

Yes, but also in Alice's solo work. Don't know about others, but I look at the Hollywood Vampires as Alice Cooper with some different (albeit famous in their own right) backing musicians. It sure looks like Alice is BL for them.

I haven't watched the video, but I did read direct quotes. I'll chase the video down and watch when I have time. I also read more than that one article.

I'm a fan of Gibson guitars, and the company when they act in a good manner. As far as I could tell, they were screwed over by the feds on wood; I backed Gibson then. But they have filed against Armadillo (parent of Dean) - which is fair, albeit absurdly late - but it sounds on the surface to be over-reaching. I'd love to know their basis for the allegation of "trademark counterfeiting".

Actually, I suspect they were playing games when they got busted by the feds. Or they were sloppy. Either way, it's Henry J's legacy of mismanagement. They seem to be righting the ship a bit, however awkwardly. I hope the internal misery is changing. Unhappy guitar builders are not a good way to crank out high quality work, although I haven't personally seen the low quality that get alleged all the time. As long as Gibson survives to build again, there's hope. I don't really care what the bashers have to say. There are Fender bashers, Ric bashers, and probably every other kind of guitar bashers. Sometimes they have a point. Sometimes they don't.

So many presume to know what is going on within Gibson, but the truth is that we don't know. Some have the background to make better educated guesses than others. As always, it is the empty vessels that make the most noise.
