Thunderbird Club

Gig tonight-playing the 67 TBird. No worries about FOH/soundmen. Clubs around here don't have either. If they have a PA, it's for announcements like "will the owner of the green Subaru wagon, please.....":smug:

EErrrmmmm.......

I resemble that remark :roflmao:

Yada, yada, yada. Psssst. It was an inflatable prop, not a real plane.... There is no need for historic accuracy*. Eddie wasn't real either - it was a guy with stilts in a costume.

*Unless you are Lemmy playing Frankfurt in which case you want to be able to accurately say "bet it has been a while since you've seen one of these"
What- A live Lemmy?

Yesterday evening I saw Steve Harris and his back up band.

Great show - played the songs you really wanted to hear. And I knew what was coming because months ago they put the set list up on Spotify as a playlist ( Iron Maiden - Official Playlist, a playlist by Iron Maiden on Spotify ). The show was done in 3 parts - martial (two minutes to midnight, the trooper etc), ecclesiastic (revelations, the sign of the cross), and horror (fear of the dark, number of the beast). For a bunch of old guys nearly ready to collect their state pensions, they put on a great high energy show.

Obligatory crappy cell phone picture (hey, you gotta like a Spitfire flying over the stage)

ACC?

Big beer stadium on Lake Shore (can't be quite sure which beer it is named for as it seems to change frequently)

Invalid Link Removed

Sorry - I don't keep track of the name changes anymore. Although I do call the old O'Keefe Centre the Hummingbird Centre. And it has changed names a few times since then I think.

No longer ACC or Sky Dome, but I continue to call them by those names.

I couldn't tell how many times I've been to or seen concerts and you can't tell when or what the bass is doing (Peter Frampton a few years ago, outside). Not trying to bash all soundmen, but it's frustrating that there's an all too common trend of not hearing the bass. At that Frampton concert I was close to the sound board and seriously thought of saying to one of the guys in the booth: "You realize you can't hear the bass, right? Some reason for that?" Figured it was a waste of time and missing a song. I know ragging on soundmen is forbidden so I'll leave it there. It just seems to be a common and curious problem. Kick sounds like nuclear thunder at times and can take your breath, but the bass...... So frustrating to see a person playing and you can't tell it.
Yeah, saw Frampton a couple of years ago at an amphitheater we go to a lot a couple years ago, same thing. Others I’ve seen there, Yes,
America, Judy Collins, all sounded pretty decent. Not perfect, but not total mud either. At a few shows I’ve been to where sound was ok, I’ve actually thanked the board guys on the way out.
