Thunderbird Club

Oh that? That's on loan from my electronica side project. Was messing about with a freeware IOS synth -- 'Synth One'. Was finding out what I can do with it.

The electronica is a bit of a rabbit hole (be funny if my rabbit hole joined up with Mark's @dukeorock). I started out making intros and interludes -- aka 'padding' to get our set up to 45 minutes -- triggered off the Roland pad ... but now we are talking about using the synth for backing tracks in songs, just to add to the overall effect*, which adds a whole new layer of complexity with click tracks etc.

*Why make people dance, when you can melt their faces?

I’ve been doing a bunch of ‘transition’ pieces lately, but not sure where I’ll put em :)

Well, might just be me. But i can hear these two doing something together, @dukeorock and @fasterpussycat
There have been stranger things.

Finding somewhere in the middle to rehearse could be tough :)

Saw this at my gig last night. Fella said it’s a ‘66

Just for grins...
Back to front, these contain:
  1. Epiphone Goth Flying V (6 string guitar) w/ Coffin case
  2. Epiphone Pro V
  3. Epiphone IV
I find it amusing that the largest case is for a guitar that is not a bass. When I bought it, numerous stores in town had Flying Vs. None of them had cases. Since I had to order one, I figured I'd go with the case that was both cooler and cheaper. Turned out to be huger as well.

The case in the middle is what the larger, more expensive Bird came in. It's not all that well made- cheap board material, plastic corners. Of course, I have no way of knowing if it was the original case. But given the problems the bass had, it probably was. Maybe it was a bad year for Epiphone?

I know. Boring shot (not staged). No shoes. Hey, no pants, either, so count your blessings!
My Pro IV came in the same kind of case the bolt-on had. I believe they are identical cases. I actually like those cases better than Gibson cases in a lot of ways. They seem to fit better.

The Basement of Bad Ideas is sometimes available. You would have to put up with the twin who lives upstairs, and that might be tough.

Check the link in my sig ... or throb, by DEVØURED

Just listened to the 4 tunes I heard on your Bandcamp. VERY NICE!!!
I spent about 18 hours today just trying to teach myself some new tricks on the eurorack. Didn’t really come up with any decent music, but I think I may have learned a couple things.
You need to keep exploring this stuff as it’s off to a great start!

This shot was(obviously)taken inside. Why does it look so good-besides the TBird? 'Cos the bro-in-law shot it with his iPhone.

1. What is under the green drop cloth? I suspect it is a collection of My Little Ponies and Beanie Babies.
2. What is under the blue drop cloth? I suspect it is Elvis' empty casket.
3. Have you joined the artisanal SD TV club?

Used the VP last night at rehearsal. String of choice this time was Roto flats. I thought they sounded as good as anything if not the best thus far. I also "discovered" the EQ on the head (Ampeg V-4BH, think 100w SVT), and boosted the lows way more than normal. (Normally I barely adjust.) That made the VP have the big, thick sound like the '64 Bird and Embassy. I then backed off the lows to normal (1:30 ish), and boosted the lower mids to almost 3:00. That sounded really, really good as well. Solid lows, but with hefty punch. Hard to do much tinkering during a limited time practice, but I learned the VP is a little shy in the low end compared to most everything else I have. I really like this better than anything so far it seems. But really breaking from my tendency of not EQing much makes me wonder what other strings might sound better with a retry and that EQing. The insanity never ends, but I have a go-to now that is very, very satisfying. I am still curious about Roto 66s steel or nickle. Haven't used the 66s in decades and my wondering is bothering me.

Very kind of you Mark. One day there will be some actual band recordings there.
