Thunderbird Club

Last night was not exactly Duke'o'Frock epic, but I was beating on the upright long enough to start having hand cramps. Note to self- water is a good idea, but it does not magically appear on stage. The audience was enthusiastic, all tens of them. At least they were nearly all dancing. Beer may have been involved. The dirty little secret is that no matter how much fun they had, the band was having more fun.

I also got to play the PinkBird and the 2001. The 2001 was downtuned 1/2 step. I thought it would get flubby with Black Beauties, but it still barked and snarled. The PinkBird did not sound quire as good with Bass Burners. Go figure.

In all, it was about two and a half solid hours of playing. No breaks between songs on the upright. That also keeps the audience into it.

Cool! It is fun! My mostly pop band is the antithesis of 'heavy' but I also am in a power trio and it can get heavy. The trick is establishing a volume ceiling that allows for everything to be distinctly heard, including vocals. For instrumentals, the drums are the governor and everything else can't get louder than that. As far as vocals - in my book all words need to be easily heard/understood by the audience so everything conforms to that goal. Screaming over super loud music has it's moments, but a full set of it always sends me out of the club. Heavy doesn't need to be loud - just loud enough to feel heavy.
Eeeeexactly!

Rehearsal tonight, guess I'll play this one

This even sounds good even in the pic! I love your green basses.

That sounds like me picking out a hat. Lol.

Not an unpleasant task, this one gets the call because the next show is on a rather boomy stage.

I realize it's a completely different scenario, but at church, water does magically appear on stage. OK, not technically magic, or otherwise supernatural, but it appears as needed. Now if only my coffee would refill as needed.

Beast mode!

Do you hang the bra on the stand at the show?

It's been quite awhile, but it's happened, in our younger days we did a lot of shows with burlesque girls.

A lot of fruit (sweets in general) goes well with spicy, but peaches and heat are the bomb. I ended up with a pound or so each of both hot and mild roasted Hatch green chiles. I'm thinking I'll eat a couple of the hot ones with some peach jam as part of my supper tonight.

Peach Salsa is tied with Pineapple Salsa as second best condiment. The best condiment is of course Mango Salsa.

As a matter of pedantry, I do not put Chutney in the condiment class.

Jammed with the heavy band last night. The rehearsal space had an MB-800 Fusion on a Traynor cab with 2x10s and 1x15.
YOWZA! I didn’t have time to figure out all the controls, but that is a nice sounding amp!
Hopefully we get a bit more serious with that band. I forget how much fun it can be to play that loud and heavy with the right people until we are doing it:smug:

Those Traynor 1510s are excellent cabs. Lots of bottom end, punchy mids. They rattle the fixtures and shake the basement floor. I love mine.

I always wanted to be the bass player in the house band at a strip club! Just thought it would be hilarious. Maybe it would get old pretty quick though...

Been there and done that back in the 70s. Never got old and was a blast. Only paid $50 a night and free beer. But that was good enough.

We had our stage and they had their stage. But at certain times in the set, we'd have dancers on each side on our stage. Made it a little hard to concentrate on the set list. LOL

We weren't the house band, but got hired to play at a strip club back in PDX.
It was actually a lot of fun and everyone kept it clean (the band anyway) and had a great time.
