Yeah, I've been looking at the Hipshot replacement. I don't know if I'm just not doing something right, or maybe I am and that's just a product of these basses, but I have the thing down about as low as it'll go and it's still crazy high to me. Granted, I could screw the front point down a bit more and maybe gain a little more, but I've read a lot of posts that say to leave the front point up slightly or you risk pulling the studs out of the body. I got it because I've always loved the shape and these things have such a thunderous rumble, but that high action kills my enjoyment of it, and it does weigh a bit too.
It’s a bolt on right? You could shim the neck to increase the neck angle and get the 3 point to work without adding weight (or spending $)
The Hipshot bridge is really nice piece of hardware though!

I guess I'm in? That's my Goth T-bird on the far right, top row -

I'll be honest, not a fan of the 3-point bridge on this thing. I can NOT get the action down low enough to make it work well for me. In fact, of all my personal basses, this one probably has the highest action of them all.
Shim.

Pictures or it didn't happen.
OK-my usual impeccably sharp picture. Gold=old, black='new'(taken off EpiBird 5er)

I rescued a couple of power amps with toroidal transformers: Soundstream DA-2s. I’m thinking of trying one for bass.

I love peeps who know their chosen field inside & out! I have no idea what a toroidal transformer is (other than being a transformer) :)
