The one on EBay can stay there. I might look at it to think about how to make one. Or maybe not. It isn't a priority just yet. It is still an amusing idea. To me anyway.I could be wrong but I've yet to see anyone re-issue them. It wouldn't be too difficult to fab one. There's been a vintage one sitting on eBay forever for $350...

Agreed! As I said, it SEEMS to help me. My sister recommended it 2 years ago and I have significantly less shoulder pain than I used when playing basses. Is Glucosamine Good for Joint Pain?
There is some evidence that glucosamine may improve WOMAC scores in mild to moderate osteoarthritis. However, it is not a cure all for any orthopaedic problem.
My standard disclaimer about taking medical advice from random strangers on the internet always applies - and that includes me. There is no substitute for examination by an appropriately trained and licensed health professional.

Pictures or it didn't happen.Big day for the 67 NR.(Trumpet fanfare)[pause]I changed the strap.[fireworks, confetti, ticker tape parade, stop the presses, 21 gun salute, etc.]....... OK, BFD.
That's what the Gastroenterologist will be saying!
The prep is the worst part. Can't even remember the garden hose part.
Don't discount osteoarthritis (OA) as a cause. It isn't uncommon. OA occurs in pretty much every joint in the body, just a question of what joint(s) is/are bad enough to hurt. Pain relief is the only available treatment for mild to moderate disease. When it has progressed beyond that, it is time to start considering surgical solutions.Agreed! I am aware some other factor I haven’t thought of could account for this.
It'll be like that time I was abducted by aliens...
Gibson Goth Thunderbird
Yeah I’m aware that I’m not getting any younger, but as someone said the other day, the alternative is worseDon't discount osteoarthritis (OA) as a cause. It isn't uncommon. If glucosamine gives you relief to keep playing your Thunderbird, rock on! But be aware that OA is a progressive disease...

Is it still Thunderbird Thursday?

I thought it may be best to consult the hive mind here before venturing out into GP and the input of @dukeorock would be appreciated greatly.
I am in the market for acheapinexpensive cab. Something small and 100W would be plenty. I need a cab to keep at my brother's place for playing there (now that it will be an option). It won't be used a lot, so price is a meaningful parameter.
I have my local L&M on the look out for used Ampeg or Traynor 1x15 or 2x10, as well as Kijiji/Craigslist but used Traynors seem to hold value very well and there just aren't many used Ampegs unless you are looking for 4x10 or 8x10. So I started looking at used Ampeg and Fender combos. Still coming up empty.
So I had a thought. L&M are blowing out replacement speakers (Eminence made OEMs for Yorkville & Traynor). I can pick up a 15" 200W speaker for $35. Eminence has some suggested designs on their website and I can always download WinISD software for speaker calculations. The TS parameters are available. So hive mind, is it worth having a go at building a 1x15? Or am I underestimating the difficulty/effort/pitfalls?
Those don;t look like the Queen's shoes. And the basses look distinctly German... Is that a Zebrawood 'bird?
It looks like a zebrawood in the background.Uwe's shoes, he has a Zebrawood Bird, the one in the pic is a Goth, which (don't quote me here) I think has a 3 ply neck and the finish is much thinner and matte. They did not make a lot of them.
What I would do for one of those...My knees hurt. Not bass playing related. Sorry. Or maybe it is. I cannot stand still. I am convinced that 'Bird ergos are why I do not have wrist or shoulder problems.Don't discount osteoarthritis (OA) as a cause. It isn't uncommon. None of my aches and pains are related to playing bass. They are all related to a life well lived/poor life choices. My knees hurt. Not bass playing related. Sorry. Or maybe it is. I cannot stand still. I am convinced that 'Bird ergos are why I do not have wrist or shoulder problems.
I should have a whole lot more physical issues than I do. I chalk it up to a prehistoric genome and inbreeding. Ozzy Osborne and Keith Richard must be relatives. Causes of their damage are different, but you get the idea. I can play a Thunderbird nearly indefinitely. The upright causes my hands to cramp if I don't drink enough water, but that's about it. Knees, back, shoulder, elbows, etc. all hurt, but they don't stop me from doing anything. Or anything dumb, for that matter.None of my aches and pains are related to playing bass. They are all related to a life well lived/poor life choices.
My left shoulder still hurts from the torn labrum (I found out recently that OR time availability has been decreased, probably as a cost saving) but the limit to playing time is my fretting hand thumb. Awaiting a surgery consult on that.
But I can rock my bird for up to about 40 minutes at a time on good days.
