Thunderbird Club

I do tend to set my mic a little high;)

I could blindly turn knobs, but....
I like to have a little room on the volume and tone to turn up without going to the amp.
There’s also this sweet spot on the VP when the neck pickup is on full and the bridge is on 8.

I do all that by feel as I go. Funny the things we can and can’t remember.

Baseball journeyman Moises Alou has a trick he used to toughen up his hands. I won’t go into the details on here, but read his Wiki page.
Reminds me of a joke from my Army days.

A young Captain at the officer's mess finds himself in the bathroom at a urinal next to an Admiral. The Captain finishes and goes to walk out of the bathroom. The Admiral says to him "In the Navy we teach sailors to wash their hands after they go to the bathroom". The Captain answers "Sir, in the Army we teach soldiers not to p*ss on their hands".

THUNDERBIRD posing atop coffin. No footwear. Privates blacked out for decency.
Neck-thru Wednesday.

To all those running flats on their THUNDERBIRDS...

It has been a few weeks since I saw Steve Harris and his back up band and I am still thinking about flats on the bird. And the Slinky's on there now are just as meh as they were before, only getting worse, so I think it isn't too long until it is time to change them out.

Having had a less than optimal experience with cobalt flats in the past, I won't go with those.

Between Chromes and Roto 77s, what does the hive mind choose? Or is there something else I should be thinking about?
I used to use Chromes, but switched to Cobalt flats. Big help, right?

Never used flats on a T-bird... but have on J's - GHS Precision Flats, and LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats. Like them both... on a J. I bet the Chambers Brothers bass player used flats... on his THUNDERBIRD

would you know what kind of strings Gibson used on 60’s Birds? When I bought my bicentennial (new) it had flats but I don’t know what kind they were. did Gibson ever make/sell strings?

GHS? (began in 1964 in the same vicinity as Gibson... seems a logical connection)

I have no idea what was on my 67 when I bought it in 72. I know they were a bit rusty, so I replaced them with....uh,......ermm,...something.(?) ETA>in all these years, I've gone through a shipload of different strings, most of which I don't remember. One set I liked a lot was Ernie Ball "Red Tubies"-red nylon wrapped strings, IIRC. I think I was one of maybe 3 people that liked them.

yeah, I think the ones on mine had blue end wrapping...needless to say they were immediately swapped for a new set of RS66 yanked the covers right off the bat as well

Just seeing the image (no room for the title on my phone), that started playing in my head. For me, that is the definitive D&tD studio track.

For me it would be Layla - it was played non-stop in the dorm when I was a freshman in art-school.
