I bought a used 5'r many years ago for very little. It was the first 5'r I ever played. I brought it and another 4 string bass to a jam session figuring I'd try it for a bit and switch to the other I brought. I ended up playing it all night! I gilded the body with etched silver-leaf and sold it as a Gildaxe product - my very first sale. I still only play 4 string basses by choice, and build my own basses that offer many of the things that are good about the SG's; light weight, ergonomic, nice to play and sounds good.

IMO that's aged Pelham Blue Poly...with a seriously screwed up bridge.

I had to stare at it for a while myself. It appears that the anchor portion is angled from the saddle portion. But the saddle portion appears to be perpendicular to the strings. Now, the saddle adjustment is all sorts of wonky. Pretty sure you'd never get that thing intonated correctly, which I highly doubt it is in that picture.

Exactly the same here at the Tempe and Mesa stores. They always (at least the last year or so) have a sunburst Epi bolt neck Bird hanging there but never a Gibson.
I have owned a couple of nice SoundGear basses that I really liked. Both played and sounded fantastic but they are a bit generic looking any more. I would own another if the right deal came along, but it wouldn't replace my Birds.

The Ibanez basses are nice. I set one up for a friend's son recently and after playing with it (upside down) while setting it up and then playing my Gibson, there was a huge difference to me in feel and quality. But they are definitely nice instruments.

They need to get off their stodgy &*%$# and offer some other colors, unlike Uwe, I collect for fins. Would it kill them to do a Non Reverse...….
And/or a lefty? Gibson has done it. I thought Epiphone were the more daring and experimental ones.
Even the back of a Thunderbird never gets old!
