Thunderbird Club

With a set of bull horns mounted on the hood this might just be the perfect gig car for our Texas clan members...
1968 Cadillac Eldorado | eBay

Looks like it could hold a couple of THUNDERBIRDS and all associated amp and cab equipment. I think @dukeorock so needs this. Arrive in style!
It says free local pickup. It is a pickup. I am local. He will be getting a call shortly!

Of the (absurd) number of (all from the same year...and same color) Thunderbirds I have, this one is probably my favorite of the six. The neck is perfect: narrow at the nut, shallow the whole way up, and absolutely straight. It’s in fairly great shape, with minimal dings and abrasions, and only a faded pickguard logo to really show its age.
However, it’s also the only one of the six to sport a Strat-style knob line-up:

VOLUME - TONE - TONE

I never knew the previous owner, so I can’t even venture a guess as to why he modified it this way.
That said, I gotta say, it’s actually pretty great. And well-suited to the kind of tones I prefer.
Anyway, just thought I’d share a quirky little footnote to one of these ‘79s.

Good day for football! My team (Oakland Raiders) squeaked out a win over the Bears in the final minute of the game held in London. Couldn't believe how into the game the London fans were, most were supporting Chicago but the 60,000 person stadium was rockin! Then got to see the final few minutes of a blow out Rugby World Cup game between NZ and Nambia in Japan where the All Blacks made a picture perfect textbook drive on their final score.

Are there any professional sports teams sporting the THUNDERBIRD name?

Seattle's Western Hockey League team is the Thunderbirds

Kinda hate finding out this way, but it's not like we were old pals. He was one of that old guard that got me on my way though.
Every few weeks it becomes clearer that some of us should turn it up and not let it get quiet...

amen

The cool part about that is they will still look good when you’re 65.

When I turned 64 - my band learned this classic Beatles song and we played it live on stage on my B-day. Some things stand the test of time. :bassist: In pop history, post '64 (including '65) is only the next chapter!

Just found a couple of isolated studio album drum/bass tracks for "Simple Man" and "Freebird". I knew Ed King killed it on bass as well as guitar, but I didn't realize quite how much was going on under there, despite having listened to that album at least a thousand times over the years.
Leon took it even further live, but wow.

I can dig it. Those who ditch their tone knob - to each their own. I have no problem with a tone knob, and two is even better! :bassist:

Pics or it didn't happen!
Sorry guys, it's been a long weekend for me so I was resting most of Sunday. We held a charity 5K on Saturday morning and it pretty much did me in, so Sunday was recovery day. Oh, and here's a pic of the giant check we presented to the charity at the end of the event -

Here's a pic of my sad little '68 Javelin. This pic was taken when we moved into our new house about 4 months ago. I drove this car daily during high school (1989 to 1991) and well into the late 90s before parking it in the garage around the turn of the century because I got tired of people running into it. So basically it's been garaged for about 20 years. Some day I'm gonna get back to putting it on the road again -

It's a 343 automatic car. I put the factory disk brakes and tilt wheel on it as well. It's my baby and some day I'll drive this car again.
And this is the 1974 AMX I bought for my wife last year. She wanted something she could take to the drag strip and have some fun with, so I picked this up. It's a factory 401 automatic car. I'm doing some work to "de-tweaker" it from the guy who had it before me, and then we'll have it back on the road -

The wiring was a nightmare, along with some other issues like a broken speedo cable, carb that needed rebuilt, the grill was all bent up, the seats are a mess and it sat for a very long time causing a lot of rust inside the car on stuff like the pedals, seat slides, etc. But it's a factory AMX and all the AMX stuff is there, so it'll make a good street/strip car for her.
