Thunderbird Club

Catching up a bit...

Yikes! On a solo, that's no fun.

Ahem.

Ozzie Kat is later when her wild rock and roll lifestyle results in incoherent ramblings about bridge pickups and trucker jackets. That will be a few decades from now.

I can see it now:

I know her...

Back in 2015 or 2016 I wanted to go up in a Spitfire at a local air show but unfortunately it's a one seater...

You may be interested in buying one of my fake reproduction learner's permits...

I had a bucket list item of flying in the Concorde. Left that too late.

Had I known, it would have been worth the price just to see Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson duke it out.

With a set of bull horns mounted on the hood this might just be the perfect gig car for our Texas clan members...

Looks like it could hold a couple of THUNDERBIRDS and all associated amp and cab equipment. I think @dukeorock so needs this. Arrive in style!

So much talking about cars and no one's mentioned that Ginger Baker died?
I hadn't seen that. I was aware that he was in hospital and not doing well.

A couple of years ago, I watched the film Fear Mr. Baker. It was a documentary made by a fan and attempted to show him in a positive light. I was left with the impression that he had become a very disagreeable angry old man. Having started as a very disagreeable angry young man.

A good drummer, but from what I saw, someone that very few would enjoy working with.

I saw it. Ginger Baker was high on my list of “artists I admire until I find out what they are like”

I like this quote:
"Oh for god's sake, I've never played rock," Baker told the blog JazzWax in 2013. "Cream was two jazz players and a blues guitarist playing improvised music. We never played the same thing two nights running. Jack and I had been in jazz bands for years. All that stuff I did on the drums in Cream didn't come from drugs, either. It was from me. It was jazz."

Great doc - GB was like the Energizer bunny - he crashed and burned so many times but kept bouncing back to push his spirit forward on pure feistiness. Yah, he was not one to go with the flow, but I was impressed with his commitment to drumming living with tribes in Africa - he was in with his heart and soul. Hands down one of the best drummers of his era.

Just a THUNDERBIRD through a couple dozen SVTs.

I don't have the specific details on this, but a musician friend who creates amazing soundscapes with electronics told me about an event he attended where these mad-scientist electronic genius's created this device that unleashed subsonic sound powered by massive generators (amps?) - he explained it but it was way over my head. Anyway, once it started, it was barely audible and then he said the whole building started vibrating - he was standing in a stairwell next to a double door with a violently rattling chain around the handles. He said it was like they were 'playing' the building. Probably the closest thing to experiencing a big quake but it was being controlled/modulated. Wild.

Good day for football! My team (Oakland Raiders) squeaked out a win over the Bears in the final minute of the game held in London. Couldn't believe how into the game the London fans were, most were supporting Chicago but the 60,000 person stadium was rockin! Then got to see the final few minutes of a blow out Rugby World Cup game between NZ and Nambia in Japan where the All Blacks made a picture perfect textbook drive on their final score.

Are there any professional sports teams sporting the THUNDERBIRD name?

University of British Columbia - UBC Thunderbirds IIRC. Depending on how you feel about college/univeristy sports, maybe professional.

You know you’re hardcore when....
Actually my wife had some nice ink done recently and I’m thinking about a Tbird:D

Just do it!

I remember wanting a tat for the longest time but didn't know exactly what - The light bulb came on and it was a done thing.
