switched from light (100) to standards (105) on one of my basses a few days ago after using lights for years (used to use 90s back in the 80s
) to get more tension for some synth parts (picked) and wow...they sound phenomenal. you can’t splash around and bend strings but everything counts (harder to lie on them
)....so true that a bass set up for slap or tap doesn’t necessarily mean a good bass for pizzi...if anything, a lighter gauge probably hindered my fingerstyle technique which didn’t hurt my playing as I would revert to a pick on parts that were more challenging with fingers improving the picking technique...really digging them..so much so, I blistered my fingers
...ironic that I put them on to play with a pick..
