Thunderbird Club

The Flamingo has .110s on it for the time being. They are Bass Burners, and I don't like the way they sound that much so far, but I sure do like the way they feel and the level of definition I get out of them. Maybe it's just the way they sound with Chinabuckers. They had too much dusty brown in the sound to the point the sound almost has a smell like overheated transformer insulation. That's the last thing I need - another weird mental path getting burned into my ear wiring. But, they are beginning to sound better. Maybe they just need to break in. Maybe I'm just getting used to the sound. Either way, they get another month or two before final judgment.

Pickup height? Mine give me a nice deep indigo blue shot through with black and magenta sparks.

Yeah, every 70’s lawsuit Ibanez I’ve ever tried was awesome and right up there with the Gibson’s of that time, so I should’ve grabbed that T Bird when the price dropped to $600. Shipping was quite high as I recall. My Gibson and Cataldo ‘Birds are plenty though, when I’m honest

It's against the rules to be content with the Birds you already have. For my part, I'd only be tempted by a Gibson at a stupidly low price and one of the others would have to go. I'm very attached to all three of my Birds, therefore I am happy to flout the club rules.

Well, I only have the one Bird. I always wanted one ever since I saw Nikki pounding on one during the Dr. Feelgood era, but I never could afford one back then. Honestly, I still can't really afford one of those super nice burst ones. But I managed to snag my Goth Bird with a few nicks here and there and no case for pretty damn cheap, so I took it.

I will say though, I really dislike the bridge. I just can't get the action down where I'd like it to be with this 3-point bridge. I'm considering swapping it for something else, but again, money.

DSCN0309.JPG I'm afraid that some of us pretty much have to be content with the 'Bird(s) we already have. And, not many lower cost alternatives, either...

I won’t be going near that one, but I have gigged a friends 70’s style Greco and it was fantastic. Hope to grab one at some point. The Quattro ‘Bird is a little too wacky for me :)
I won't be buying it, either, for a lot of reasons. But the pickup spacing is interesting. Putting a split P in mudbucker position sounds like what?

There's a few around here who pick up the slack for you.
