Thunderbird Club

Happy Thunderbird Thursday!!!

Having owned the 2001 Ebony Bird and a Desert Burst LP Standard bass at the same time, I can attest to the video being pretty accurate. The humbucker sized pickups are clearer and more aggressive sounding to my ears. I used a pair of the humbucker sized in my Goth rebuild but I stuffed them inside Bicentennial pickup covers.

That's a beautiful rebuild! Very well done!

OMG I started a BEG derail!
Not sure what it is about BEG but I absolutely detest playing that song. I'd rather play Freebird, Mustang Sally and McArthur Park back to back than even think about playing BEG. I think it might be because it's one of those songs every bass player is supposed to know by heart and be able to play in their sleep. I've never even attempted to play it and try to avoid even hearing it when possible. YMMV

I don't mind playing it. The bass solo gives me a small opportunity to go off on some oddball tangent the throws everyone but jazz players. I don't know what I'm doing, but they don't know that. Then the bass line isn't fixed. So long as you hold the groove and hit the ones in the right place, everything else is completely negotiable. Which is how I generally like to play.

the song is like a cartoon but a total winner with any crowd...young...old..etc....people love to sing along...soooooo...we play it...

I can't sing, and barely play. But here's a quick nasty crud sound clip on on the burst bird.
And talk about crud recording. Bird, amp, iphone. Don't hate on me now.
I try to do bad, good. Well, i try to try. Use cans, please. And than you can laugh at me all ya want.

Any time I hear that riff from I Want to Take You Higher, I say (sometimes out loud, sometimes to myself) "I am the wolfman!" And it is all because of the Hilarious House of Frightenstein.
