needless to say - we played that with Bond girl but have yet to introduce it into TSC's.

It was seriously my first song I played in front of people. We played the junior high talent show. Secret Agent Man and It Don’t Come Easy. Only thing I really remember about it was a lot of girls started talking to me after that. And I was the bass player. Go figure.

Love Mick and John, two of my favorites.
I think I read somewhere a few years ago that ZZ Top was the longest running all original member band. Three greats in that group as well, even if Dusty is a bit repetitive, it fits the music.

ZZ Top may well be that, but Mick and John have been together a bit longer- since 1967. 52 years, y'all. Still, ZZ Top is 50. Not the whole band, and not a rhythm section, but Jagger and Richards have been together since 1962, with Watts joining in '63.

I am kind of used to the heat. There are always those days where it is a bit much, but as long as the AC is working, I can live with it. I totally understand people not liking it or not being able to adjust to it.

At the last trucking company I worked for, a few people knew I'm a musician. I was asked if I liked rap music. I replied, "well, there's rap and then there's music." Not a totally popular answer but dilligas.

Mick and John played together in The Bluesbreakers in ‘67. Then left to form FM in ‘68. ZZ formed around ‘69. Have no idea if Dusty and Beard played together before then. And yes, another great duo. And ZZ can repeat all they want. Was actually giving Tres Hombres a spin today.

That was great! I feel pretty far removed from the freedom to think that way, live with that focus, have for years now, but hopefully things change. It's great to hear someone speak that way with that kind of enthusiasm, thanks for posting it.

EJ was cool - I saw/heard him when I lived in Chicago. He played at a total jazz joint deep in the city - very intimate space - very JAZZZZZ.

I just had a blast from the past (memory) - my 1st 'in front of an audience' 15 minutes was playing "Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire" (I kid you not!) in a trio at my High School talent show. (!) It gets better... I had my grandma (who was a seamstress) make me a jacket like the one Jimi was wearing in the fish-eye lens pic on the cover of their 1st album... out of flowered curtain material! I wore that and those rectangle blue/red/green "hippy glasses" ~ early performance costuming! I wish there was a Super 8 document... you can't fake that level of potential funny!

Who's That gig report, the usual culprits involved. We surprised our booking agent with her favorite Who song I'm One, she was near tears. She literally did more for us in two weeks than we could do in two yearsand that was just for starters. Bigger and better things comming in 2020!

Are you speaking of a Roland electronic drum set, and if so for recording or live? I played a live improv set with a drummer on an electronic kit and yah, volume wasn't an issue. The issue was him keeping his eyes closed while playing. I think he was used to zoning-out with headphones on at home. It cut off needed visual communication for signaling on-the-fly changes/dynamics etc., but being a one-time thing I just rolled with it. I love drums and our drummer, he plays with finesse and has jazz chops/sensibility but as he commonly says - he likes to hit hard. I get it - to physically express is an inherent aspect of the instrument. I saw Buddy Rich once and talk about hitting hard! So my taking the lead in volume monitoring for my band is not tyrannical - but judging from most of the other bands we play a night with, we are always the 'friendliest' volume in comparison.

This is the improv set I mentioned. It's a bit long so you may not want to listen to all of it - [note to Chucky] this is the night my Ashdown failed. It's from set one before it failed. Being at Winters (in my hood) I was able to get my SWR and do another set in short order. At around 45mins I start referencing "Sunshine of Your Love" as Jack Bruce passed away just before this performance.

I like the partly veiled reference to "Sunshine". Like Jack peeking in between the slats of a Venetian blind, you can see him from the party as he's passing by.
Reminds me of a free jam project a couple friends and I had running for about 10 years- we'd just show up, have a brew or something, go to the basement, power on amps, hit 'record' on the 4-track and go... some fun and worthy moments can come of it. Good ambience, good sounds wafting around here.

Yep, there's the hefty, dark Bird of prey. Dig mine too. Good playing, good bass line. Funny how many songs I'd never listen to have crafty, weight-carrying bass lines.

I ran it through my stereo. plenty of bass, she is standing right next to the guitar player and catching quite a bit of his amp.
