Markbass heads are at the rehearsal space I’m going to and I’ll be playing through one at a gig next week.
Anybody know what those two knobs on the right side actually do?

The VLE (vintage loudspeaker emulator) takes the edge off the signal. some say it’s an LPF but it’s more than that as it plays with the damping factor as well so you can get more of the (slipping clutch)VT type response. The VPF ( variable preshape filter) is more like a magnitude based “smiley” EQ control where the preset smiley goes up and down by way of knob position.

That XLR input is in front of the preamp? I was thinking of running the SCR DI into it.

I am kind of used to the heat. There are always those days where it is a bit much, but as long as the AC is working, I can live with it. I totally understand people not liking it or not being able to adjust to it.

I was there for almost ten years, rode my bike year round for five of them. many things toile but also ( for me ) many things I didn't care for, first on the list was that Blast Furnace type heat. Heck I stopped calling it summer, that season in now known as Blast Furnace season. lol

Played through a MB head once. All I can tell you is it was loud. Set EQ knobs to 'flat', set $200 knobs to zero, engage Darkglass Vintage Ultra preamp and adjust bass to taste -- Thunderbird is go.

Will Ferrell was on the Tonight Show the other day talking about it. He said Christopher Walker told him that skit has ruined his life. Apparently people recognize him and say “more cowbell” a lot

I played through an MB500 for a few weeks, it was unbelievably loud. If I didn't watch that volume knob it'd make my head swim!
The combo seems more polite.

At the rehearsal space, I’m playing Reggae, so that’s easy to EQ.

For the upcoming gig, it is going to be far better than the house Kustom combo. I’m sure I can make it work with the VP.

XLR is post or pre, switchable.

Perfect, just switch it to post and I use my Ampeg preamp
It will be nice to not have to haul a rig for a change.
