Thunderbird Club

Hey all, thinking about adding a Thunderbird to the collection of tools. I’ve noticed that Gibson finishes are sometimes questionable, is there years where the construction is better? Or is there any reason not to buy new vs used?
It's been a while since I played a Gibson, but I have two Epi Vintage Pros, which should say something. I have a '64, '76 as well and the VPs are just flat out nice, and just can't beat them for the price. Plus, they sound very close to the '64!

I considered coming to the door nude acting as if nothing was abnormal when JW would come knocking. Never did, but it would have been memorable.
Haha. One year when I was at NYU one of my roommates in our East Village apartment had a really big Doberman. Sweet as can be, but people would very cautious around him if they didn't know him. One day I was home alone with Sparky and a JW knocked at the door. I opened it and a minute later Sparky came bolting down the hallway toward the door to see who it was. I grabbed his collar, holding him back from the guy with a look of horror on his face. All Sparky wanted to do was meet him and probably lick him, but of course he had no idea. It was really fun. He left very quickly.

In college I once really offended a Mormon woman with the Crass t-shirt I was wearing. I don't think I'm allowed to say what it said here. At the time I thought she took herself way too seriously. Then again I'd probably think the same thing now.
I can certainly see how that kind of thing could happen. And might have had t shirts like that.

Just a general thing. I didn't even know about it until later.
Yeah, I never heard that either. But libraries are full of things we don't know. In the 70s and and early 80s around here word was don't go see Aerosmith because they sounded so bad live. No doubt not all true. I like Aerosmith, so I'm not trying to rag on them.

My ex was a nurse in a Jewish neighborhood. She used to get paid by a few families who lived near her clients house just to turn their stoves on and off on the Sabbath.

I comes down to those who aren't averse to hugging someone when they meet them, and those who would rather not. (inclusive vs exclusive) Consider ones-self as one of the whole, or exclusive via class/etc divisions. One planet - we all share it.

It's always fun to know the details of religion.
My ex is Polish and when Pope John Paul II died, I pointed out that the Catholic ritual (I'm not Catholic) is that (and the phrasing is important here) "When the Pope dies, the senior Cardinal hits him on the head with a silver hammer to make sure he is dead". The family argued that there:smug: is no way the church would do something so barbaric. Then one of them looked it up on the internet. And of course, technically, I was correct, although perhaps I could have phrased it better.
Bang bang Maxwell's Silver Hammer came down upon his head. . .
