Can't beat a T-40! (But you could beat someone with it) I bought one new in '78 and honestly it was the biggest bang for the buck out there. $225 new with case. I was working at the House of Guitars at the time and believe you me the T-40 was a refreshing change in quality compared to what Fender was shipping us. I had two of them until recently but I have a early natural one in the collection. Great sounding and playing bass. Most are heavy as hell, later ones used alder for solid colors and can be a bit lighter. Still a good deal at 400-600 bucks.
I especially look forward to the review of the Epi VP, RI, NR, TBII/IV in 'whatever' finish.I always appreciate your reviews of instruments. You are brief and to the point and avoid the philosophical discussions of tone, type of music, and feel. You just get down to brass tacks - is it worth the price/at what price is it a decent buy. All the other factors are different for everyone.

Before the Vintage Pro I had two Classic Pro Thunderbirds that I chromed out, they were very nice basses certainly equal to a Gibson. I sold them off once the Vintage Pro became available.I especially look forward to the review of the Epi VP, RI, NR, TBII/IV in 'whatever' finish.![]()
The Vintage Pro sure is a looker...I have it in sunburst. My biggest complaint is that it's a bit of a neck-diver, especially compared to my other T-Birds with the smaller sized (regular) headstockBefore the Vintage Pro I had two Classic Pro Thunderbirds that I chromed out, they were very nice basses certainly equal to a Gibson. The bolt on Epi NRs of the 90's were good mod platforms but stock I found them rather pedestrian and the neck oddly hurt my hand from the 1-3 fret.
I have reviewed The Vintage Pro Thunderbird extensively and I think the world of them, in some ways better than the originals.
Same as a 60's bird, doesn't bother me in the leastThe Vintage Pro sure is a looker...I have it in sunburst. My biggest complaint is that it's a bit of a neck-diver, especially compared to my other T-Birds with the smaller sized (regular) headstock

Congrats on the new bird. It's a classic-looking beauty. Cheers!Bought a new 2019 T-Bird from Sweetwater this week...Merry Christmas to me!
I've played pretty much everything, and it's easily the most comfortable (I wear 'em low) and well-balanced bass I've ever played. Not to mention that it looks great and just growls.
I'm putting on gold Gibson top hat knobs and I'm looking for a black pickguard w/ gold logo. Anybody selling or have any solid leads? Larry V. isn't making them anymore, and the first one that comes up f/ an internet search is an eBay seller from Asia. I tried purchasing a black pickguard from them last year for my Epi T-Bird... and when it finally arrived nearly a month later, it was a black Firebird guitar pickguard w/ toggle switch hole. I tried to contact them, and they ignored my messages and blocked me as a buyer. ***.

turkey sandwiches rock! And I'm sitting here eating a turkey sandwich for lunch. . .![]()
That kinda depends on whether it's fresh sliced good turkey or some convenience store pre-made drek.turkey sandwiches rock!
Er, good luck with that. . .I have been playing with a couple guitarists who tune loudly by ear. We have a show coming up. I bought a Snark tuner for each of them. Any bets on whether it will solve the problem?

Fresh turkey, on toasted rye, with avocado and cucumber, light mayo. . .That kinda depends on whether it's fresh sliced good turkey or some convenience store pre-made drek.
Can they be returned? Either the Snarks[unused]or the guitarists[untuned].I have been playing with a couple guitarists who tune loudly by ear. We have a show coming up. I bought a Snark tuner for each of them. Any bets on whether it will solve the problem?
