I didn't find Cobalt flats were any rougher than other flats. I was disappointed to have a string break at 8 months though. I also noticed they had flat spots from the frets. I haven't noticed that with other flats.
Hello There, I'm about to buy a TBird Pro.
A store in my city has the Pro in Natural Oil finish. I love the way it feels and sounds, but I find the look a bit bland. I tried a regular T-bird (not pro, don't remember the model) but was unhappy with the glossy thicker neck.
- Does the Vintage Sunburst has the same satin feel on the neck, or is it a glossy one?
- Otherwise, does anyone has tries successfully to tint the NO finish to give it more punch? (I'm thinking using just a few coats of darker True Oil, without touching the neck)

I still think you must have gotten counterfeit flats. If you still had the package, you could check to make sure it didn't say "Ernie Ba11" or "Coblat falts" or something.
No help on the finish, but I don't suppose you are looking for a 5-string?
With a name like "Oneal" I totally get it. My brother-in-law (who is majority German, Schulz) wears one of those "Utili-kilts" quite often. Apparently, or so he claims, there's some Scottish on his grandmother's side, something about McAllister. I dunno, I let him get away with it. But when we go for rides on the Harleys, he rides at the back of the line!

I'm still curious what you mean by "the finish is a bit bland". Do you just find the color boring?
