They are similar to Leo's last creation (G&L) in the allure of their first decades products. For G&L it was mostly for looks I think because they all seem to be very good over the years. (orig hs shape vs the still used one with a pointed part) Their current RI's of the L1000 is as good as it gets for a RI. (spot on) Adding to that, the early necks had some warping issues so this new one should be better in that respect. As MM had a stint w/Leo and then mostly apart from him - it's a slightly different situation. Maybe neck profiles...

I think the old Peavey T40s would do that as well. Also had some some kind of out of phase switch as I recall. They had some cool features for the time. But weighed as much as my Plymouth 318.

I also have a G&L BABE that will split the humbuckers. Makes for a really nice J-ish sound.

Not to put down the EB models...had an earlier three knob Stingray with a rock hard all curly maple neck f/b (seemed like all one piece) that played and sounded like a dream..

If you're a Humbucker guy you should have a Stingray in your arsenal. It's a brighter sounding bass than a typical TBird but still has a sweet bottom end and plenty of growl if needed.

Have both a pre EB and and a SR5 and much prefer the preEB preamp. I can dial it in very quickly. The newer 3 band, not so much.

Yes, both the preEB and EB play like a dream, very well built and unique look in the bass world. But I still like my 1979 best, it oozes mojo.

Sometimes, I do things just for the hell of it.

So, this weekend, I learned the Deee Lite song Groove is in the Heart - a fun Bootsy Collins bass line that, well, is the entire song (except for some slide whistles). I really couldn't help myself. My sister in law listened to it and I just couldn't get out of my head that this is an easy, fun bassline that carries the song. I don't know when I will ever get a chance to play it except for my own amusement (which is enough really).

Can't really explain why other that is just sounds great that way. I'm thinking it contributes to the monster-thick lows with that bass. IDK if the bridge pup pot is shot on my 67 NR or what, but if I turn it up, my volume drops and it makes very little difference in tone.
