Thunderbird Club

FWIW, I had a Lollar in the P-Bass Position but found it to be lacking in low end:

So I moved it closer to the neck and am very happy with it.

In general, I find all Pbasses lacking in low end which I suppose is the point of a Pbass, that is to get a grindy mid-range that carves out its own spot. It took me a long time to figure that out, I was trying to put a round peg in a square hole.

I got the Embassy today, impatiently waited and let it warm up. Minimal playing time is positive, and I look forward to more. It is 7 lb 12 ozs by my scale, so it will definitely make those 3 hour marathon practices more pleasant no matt what. More after I spend more time with it tomorrow :bassist:

Here's a story. One band member was telling me of a guitarist who was playing music for a living but unfortunately had his double-wide burn down to ashes one night while he was playing in a club. He was homeless with just a guitar to his name. Several local musicians "banded" together and put on a concert to raise money to get the musician back on his feet. Apparently they raised about $1K, not bad at all. Unfortunately he didn't get the point and used the money to buy a second guitar.

There will be no JC this year. It is thinkable that I may have some fortuitous family event to sponsor in the coming year, as well as other expenses looming on the near horizon, so with sigh I relinquish... I got kind of excited at the opportunity, apparently I forgot myself. It happens!
Not bumming though- I've got good gear to get it on with, a band that's getting a good buzz, kids who are looking forward to lives with promise. And I'm getting slowly out from under the deep fog of debt. Life is good.
I will wistfully kiss Opportunity goodbye, hopefully she'll be 'round again.
Meanwhile, there is THUNDER to make.

That sounds like a whole heap of good opportunities, anyway!

Well, I have spent some time the last few days (productively?) trying to learn Metal Health (Bang your Head) by Quiet Riot. I end up being able to play it, but I will never memorize it. Rudy Sarzo has a lot going on for what is a hair metal song. And then I ran across this.

I just played a REVERSE card.

That Lullbird is one SEXY beast!

I beat myself up at times about finger noise on the strings when I'm not playing flats. I just realized tonight that Nikki of Silversun Pickups- who's apparently picky about her sound, especially on record- has clear noise when sliding on "Widow's Weeds". I'll keep working on minimizing it, but if Nikki can put out an album with that, I'm OK. :headphone:
Speaking of Nikki, she has tone for dayyyssss...
And I notice that she loves her some Ampeg refrigerator...
And of course THUNDERBIRDS. :bassist:
She won't even try basses that other manufacturers offer her. :wideyed:
