Thunderbird Club

I used to go see Wally's band Pearl at Catch-22, right off the Ft Lauderdale strip. They still rate as among the best bands I've ever seen in a club. Wally was a badass player, and a really nice guy.
I was 17, got my fake I.D. in Coconut Grove...
Wow, small world...I was 16 but the drinking age was still 18 so it was easier to sneak in. I used to watch them there as well as the Button and the Cafe Exchange off Sunrise Blvd. couldn’t agree more, Wally was humble and a hell of a nice guy. our singer’s girlfriend ran off with him when he signed with Malmsteen lol....he got sponsored by Peavey (for basses) and Ampeg when I remember him telling me his new 2 SVT rig was louder than his previous band Frontrunner! great times....remember that rickety heavily modified Rick he used to play?..

So I ordered a pizza and I'm just mucking around in the living room with my goth thru a gawd awfull bass effects/drum thingamachine and pizza guy with 10,000 tats and piercings shows up and says "oh man, I am a performing artist/poet.. lets jam."
Ten minutes later we had this and then he took off with his 6 cold pizzas and I never saw him again, LOL.

o_ONot sure I'd eat a pizza delivered by a guy singing about pissing in the sink.

used to sneak into bars (underage) in Liquordale to watch this guy back in the early 80's....man oh man...

Takes a lot of skill to do that. That said, still reminds me of Guitar Center on a weekday after high school lets out.:D

Thanks man. I truly appreciate it. Growing up a policeman's son I get annoyed by the all too often anti-police bias in the MSM. I know there are corrupt police, but they are a small minority. The problem of anti-police bias is acute in NY, but I will refrain from my rant here. This forum is about deep fried butter and watermelons. . . I mean Thunderbirds. :smug:

EDIT: And thank you to your dad for his service!
You are welcome. It's often a thankless job--until someone needs you bad. I really dislike the childish broad-brush approach to seeing people and stereotyping. There are a few bad people in every profession and in every locaton--and "ain't no body perfect" we can say with certainty. But I hear you. I sure it was tough at times for the family having stress few families of workers ever know.

Come to think of it, its a little like bass players. Few people think much of bass players, but we know we're all there is between the audience and a thin, flat musical performance! Thus the mighty Thunderbird!
