Now I may have to renege on my "end of the great flats experiment" just to see if I can slappity-poppity with flats.Which is pretty much what I mean by "to each his own". If I needed to 'slap and pop' to get a gig, I'd be SOL. Bone spur on right thumb eliminates any possibility of doing that(w/o accompanying howls of pain). Plus, personal taste, I don't like the sound of it, no matter who's doing it or why. I fully recognize that that prolly puts me firmly in the category of "Grumpy Olde Phart"-which I am(#228).

...say, is there a sponsorship needed to join the GOF club? sounds like a fun time!Part of ensuring no dive is wearing your bass properly. Birds like to sit a bit lower with the neck tilted up to about 2:00.Hi all. I’m searching through the posts (there is alot) but cant see anything in relation to straps. Is there a good wide strap that anyone can suggest to help with the neck dive. Thanks

<edit> Using an excessively grippy strap to counter neckdive could result in fatigue and may result in pain after long periods of playing.
Spandex is optional.reason why I took up bass and have ordered a TBird

You fit right in here. Make sure you grab some appropriate head-dress.I had to! He said playing bass is easy because we only have 4 strings!

Ufff, I was really getting nervous about the crack, it's good to know it's nothing major. Other than that, everything is great about the bass.

See, that doesn't work for me because my belly gets in the way. Where's the pick of current day Axl Rose wearing a Thunderbird? Or maybe current day Vince Neal? Don't @ me!Part of ensuring no dive is wearing your bass properly. Birds like to sit a bit lower with the neck tilted up to about 2:00.

I'd try the E.Did a quick montage of my gig tools
Still not sure which one of the 4 strings will get flats...View attachment 3689961
totally agree, not knocking flats at all....love their sound and have a set on my P...unfortunately it’s my least played bass (use it with only one band) because it’s limited for what I do. as I like to play out as much as I can, tone versatility becomes key..That's why one needs (yes, needs) at least one (bass) with each type. And I'm sure there are hollow body basses that sound good with rounds - but with flats ... heaven.
I'm going to pass on the ecstasy. There is evidence that long term use may disrupt catecholaminergic structures in the brain and these days, I think that what ever marbles I have left, I should probably try to preserve.I'd try the E.

I don't care who you are, that right there was funny!
