I'll get better pictures once it's set up after the keys arrive. But man, this bass just pops even more & my bridge pickup works!! 13.80K at the bridge, 13.90k at the neck. I think it's pretty good. + with the added .047uf capacitor, i'm sure to get a bit more bite out of the tone.

That finish looks pretty bad ass, would look killer on stage.

A couple of years ago I sent a friend the base plate of a Gibson 3-point because his cracked down the center. It does happen but you don't hear about it very often.

I haven't heard of it at all. I'm glad to have this club to come to for answers and help. Thanks! I'll keep an eye on it and at the same time look for a replacement. Either another one the same or an aftermarket one. If anyone has an original for sale.......?

What's the output of stock humbuckers on Epiphone classic IVs?

I don't have any numbers, but they're pretty darn hot for passive pickups. They rival the G&L MFD humbuckers in my opinion, and everyone talks about how overwhelmingly hot they are. I love 'em both.

Of course, string/pickup height has a TON to do with it.

I have one that came off the 1991 when I put on the Babicz. The bass isn't a collector's bass, so if you want it, let me know. Sale? of a 25 year old piece of pot metal? Um, that would be me ripping you off! I would just send it to you.

I had the early, candy apple red with split P pups version of this but was not impressed, I think I kept it for less than a year and then traded it in for one of my Hamer Blitz basses. Had no balls to it. I think if the one shown here had been available, I probably would have gone with it instead and would probably still own it today. I also had the candy apple red version of the 6 string and ended up trading that as well.

Can't wait to join! I'll be purchasing an Epi Classic IV in burst as soon as that tax refund comes in!

I had one, they are well built, sound good and the finish was flawless. For 489.00, it was worth it.

There isn't much that you can do to fix the bridge to the bass without having more holes. And from the looks of it, if you plug up the 3 insert holes from teh 3point bridge, you'd only be drilling 3 new holes to hold the new bridge you have so in a way, you're not putting anymore holes into the bass itself, you're just re-arranging the placement and size of the holes.

Don't they make those retro-fit bridges to replace those 3 pointers? I think they make them out of aircraft grade aluminum.

I don´t wanna do more holes in the body, for that reason I´m thinking in the way to fix the bridge!

Hipshot products makes a nice retro fit bridge in black or gold...IMO, no drilling from what I can see. I think they go for around $100.00..not bad.

My dad used to own a black destroyer (like the one pictured), a red one & the guitar version. The better bass was the black one, the guitar was equipped with a dimarzio super 2 at the neck & dimarzio x2n at the bridge. Kinda wish he would've been a collector back then i probably would've had more gear than i do right now xP Reason i said i'd have a destroyer bass is cause i saw one online used in my area for 200$. If only i had the money, cause it comes with a case!

Thanks Andii, I actually have two of them. The last owner did his best to destroy this one.

You can buy the Chinese ones we are all talking about direct from EY Guitars in Hong Kong. They also sell them on eBay.
The link below takes you directly to them. You can specify resistance 8K or 9.2K, cover- chrome or nickel and rings.
I put a set of 9.2Ks in my Gibson TBird and love them.

Our beloved Queen will, no doubt, be along soon and attend to your investiture in the Club and the formal conferral of a number.

That picture did it! I just sprung for some Chinabuckers to finish the chrome out project on the 1991. Next step will be to assemble everything. It looks good from 5 feet, but up close, it's a little ratted out. I still haven't decided whether to refinish it, or if I do, what color it needs to be. I'm going back and forth between metal flake purple, metal flake jade green, and metal flake orange. Being subtle is not what a 'Bird is all about.

It looks like the pot punched thru the top an somebody filled the hole with plastic wood. That's the way I got it.
