The Australian Chevy II Nova?

View attachment 3707200

sort of. All sedans & wagons 4 door, plus 2 door Utes & panel vans. Choice of 2 new ‘red 6’ engines 149ci & 179ci (only with hydra Matic auto to start with).
Became the base of Holdens first ‘Bathurst Special’ the S4, which included a ‘4 on the floor’ for the first time. A 179M came into the range at some point, M for ‘manual change’.

The EH range was the biggest seller of the Holdens until the HQ 71-74 knocked it off that perch.

Looks great! In the summer heat I sometimes wish I had bought a lighter color like yours.

Never understood that style. I'm sure there's a purpose, but it looks like it would guarantee one sunburned ear. It does look cool though.

thanks. I found ’fawn’ a little dark and ’sand’ a little too light. The online shop had ‘bran’ in between so I got that. The 45 c day started me thinking again, the last few 38+ c days sort of confirmed my thinking. Of course it has hardly stopped raining since I got it!
If I got a 2nd Akubra black is most likely, prob a different style.

The ‘Slouch Hat’ is often worn brim flat (don’t know correct term) now days for sun protection. The upturned right brim for drills and ceremonies mostly. Yes, upturned for ease with ‘shoulder arms’ etc.

TBH I have never seen an Australian civilian wear one, and it would ‘feel funny’ to me. I surprised they sell them. Brim down and no badges it would be just a good sun hat I guess.

(perhaps in a fancy dress situation or with the brim down and no badges. Just gat ant pugeree.)

It's tough to "like" some of these posts about Mike. I never got to meet him, but his impact on the PNW music scene was huge. Love seeing the photos of his basses, what an awesome tribute guys!

Agreed. For me it out of respect for Mike, his family, all of his shop and the wonderful instruments they make.

Since I fell 1,100 posts behind, I don’t think I’ll be playing catch up, BUT I did just get this in the mail today!

a new neck from Carlo with more of a J bass profile! My Cataldo NR-41 currently has a 1.75” nut width and I’ve grown to prefer 1.5”. Pretty excited! He also threw in a t-shirt :)

....my actual darlings....medium scale Cataldo and Pbird ....nut width 1.5“...

There were a couple things I wanted to take to him for work and modification, but never did. Now those things will never happen. A number of people I have played with over the years swore by his work, and you could tell why. After his shop got done with a guitar, the strings didn't break, the intonation worked as it should, and a 12-string Ric actually stayed mostly in tune once it was tuned. That last one is a miracle so far as I know. This whole area will miss him, as will anybody who thinks Carlo should have a little competition in the non-Gibson/Epi Thunderbird building business.

:) Thanks! That's my Custom Kraft hollow-body, pick/palm muting. I used it because of this live performance of Dusty - the BL is the bass player, (to her left) playing a hollow-body. Yes, Kirstin is a superstar - to us anyway!

I really enjoy your music that you post. Ive got to get up there and catch a show. And one of @Chucky Stiletti’s too. There are Some talented players in this club.

Ah, but this is more practical:

I need one like that, only painted Burgundy Mist Metallic and with side pipes.

After days of looking at melons (I can see the Ahem coming...) and some mildly disturbing but amusing pics'n gifs, now we're heading in Neil Young territory...

and nothing says "Redneck like........

There's gotta be a coffin-sized beer cooler in there somewhere, probably located right under the gunrack...

I'll be 62 this year, I'm trying my best to regularly exercise 3-4 times a week for 20-25 minutes, this is after decades of avoiding exercise. It's difficult, but I'm at the point that my body seems to "want it" and while I don't enjoy it I do find that I feel much, much better after words. FWIW I have my bike set up on a resistance stand and pedal gradually increasing the difficulty and use free weights at the same time, it's a good low-impact workout.

I can't wait for the snow to GTFOH and take my bike out... haven't touched it in almost 2 years.

Having spent some time with the Dean Markley Blue Steels, I can say that I'm not a fan. A set of my favourite nickel roundwounds will be going on the JC once I pull my finger out and order them.

What was wrong with the Blue Steels besides their initials?
