Thunderbird Club

I've dealt with Sweetwater for years, and until last week I had never been "cold called" by their sales team. I handled him the same way I deal with all unwanted sales calls - I put him to work and told him to call me back when he had the job done.

The item I tasked him with - contact Epiphone marketing/sales and let them know there is a huge unmet demand for a Non Reverse Thunderbird VP. He said he had a contact at Eppi that could possibly make that happen, so I told him to call me back when I can order a couple of them from him. I don't expect a return call anytime in the foreseeable future, just as it should be.

Edit: and on the outside chance I do get a call back it should be some very good news, again just as it should be.
That’s funny. It’s very likely Epi knows full well a NR would go over well. The last ones produced were by Gibson in ‘13. I can’t find how many they did, but given that few come up used it likely wasn’t many. I’ve gotta believe it really is going to happen at some point. A VP version is a no brainer.

Guys/Gals:

I may have a line on a trade for an Epi Thunderbird, but no case. I am checking to see if anyone has a list for what gig bags would fit. I assume most gig bags, such as the Mono Sleeve (I happen to have one) would not be big enough. Thanks.
Gator ProGo. Awesome bag, and if you remove the removable inside bottom cushion, a Thunderbird fits fine.

The Babicz for the NR finally showed up on UPS tracking a few minutes ago. It was originally supposed to be here Saturday. Then Monday. UPS says it’s now in town, but they don’t show when they’ll deliver it. And there’s no tracking info given about the journey it has made.

Amazon just posted this message:

“Now expected February 16 - February 19
We’re very sorry your delivery is late. Most late packages arrive in a day. If you have not received your package by tomorrow, you can come back here the next day for a refund or replacement.”

It’s funny how they’ve trained us to expect immediacy, only to disappoint us when the delivery chain has a hiccup. Back in the day, when we relied on snail mail, we didn’t expect so much. We were happy with orders of specialty items arriving in a couple or three weeks.

Still waiting on the Hipshot Supertone for the Silverburst...

Good thinking! I’m going to do the same next time I get that call.

I bought this one and have no complaints. It isn't super padded, but I just need it to carry to and from practice/gigs. It fits my VP perfectly.

Good Luck!

Which Epi?

[edit] I'm slow! A VP is essentially a Gibson built in Asia and with poly instead of nitro. You would have to work to go wrong with one of those.

different company...McIntosh Labs from NY as opposed to Apple from CA...

yeah.. would love to try this as a power amp for some of my basses and cabs. 300 watt mono, and only weighs 116 lbs.
