Thunderbird Club

Anyone for the rarest of rare Thunderbirds?

In which we learn that Tiran has a '59:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Considering the writer/reviewer misspelled Teisco (Tesco???) I very much doubt he was quoted correctly on the year his T-bird was made. "yah, that's right.., it was a '59 T-bird... I used it to serenade Morgan Fairchild... that's the ticket!"

Set up by Mr. Lull, it's never given me any trouble - Sometimes the internetz isn't the only right way, that bass doesn't have much pitch to the neck either.
Yeah, no, I get it. That’s why I said “I think I read to many...” Honestly I’ve seen as many who say it’s true as those who say it’s false. The best part about the internet is that we now know even less! :roflmao:

party time.....cold and damp at the Row..time for some pre-gig chowdah..

The J is tuned down to D and wearing rounds, the Bird, tuned standard wearing flats...
I get cornfused enuff with standard tunings, especially if I gotta read charts. I've thought about tuning one down, but if I find I'm gonna need Eb or lower I just take the LPB2/5.

Eureka, success! Babicz is on the NR. Took all of 20 minutes to remove the three-point and strings, check that the bolts for the Babicz were the correct ones, install it and restring, and set string height.

Surprise #1: Saddles were set at the correct position for intonation out of the package. E may be just a tad sharp...but not by much.

Surprise #2: Sustain is longer than with the stock three-point.

Bottom string wraps are off the saddles. And look at all the saddle travel for adjustability.

I like it. Some adjusting here and there this weekend and this bird is all set.

Ah, yep. I just checked on line. A local guy has one, and I'm considering trading my Viola for it, since I don't like the tight string spacing.
Then that is not a Vintage Pro. It is not quite as long and you will have more bag choices. Depending on where and when it was built, the neck could be a baseball bat (appropriate for you of course) or thinner, more like a Gibson. I like bolt-on Thunderbirds quite a bit and play one at times. Even though I have three Gibsons.

Yeah, but you got that Grexa ACC 360.
