A '55 with some mods to make it faster would do nicely. It wouldn't be a Gibson. Most likely a little less than my '58 Thunderbird.![]()

Ah, yep. I just checked on line. A local guy has one, and I'm considering trading my Viola for it, since I don't like the tight string spacing.Vintage not pro? Does the neck bolt on?
Anyone for the rarest of rare Thunderbirds?

Yeah, no, I get it. That’s why I said “I think I read to many...” Honestly I’ve seen as many who say it’s true as those who say it’s false. The best part about the internet is that we now know even less!Set up by Mr. Lull, it's never given me any trouble - Sometimes the internetz isn't the only right way, that bass doesn't have much pitch to the neck either.

I take 2 basses on every gig. My 67 NR and my Squire VM Jaguar SS in case there's no space on stage. Otherwise the Jag stays in the van. The long and short of it.
The J is tuned down to D and wearing rounds, the Bird, tuned standard wearing flats...I take 2 basses on every gig. My 67 NR and my Squire VM Jaguar SS in case there's no space on stage. Otherwise the Jag stays in the van.

Then that is not a Vintage Pro. It is not quite as long and you will have more bag choices. Depending on where and when it was built, the neck could be a baseball bat (appropriate for you of course) or thinner, more like a Gibson. I like bolt-on Thunderbirds quite a bit and play one at times. Even though I have three Gibsons.Ah, yep. I just checked on line.
