No, all stories from the past. With 4 kids, 6 basses, and a 1977 K10 Chevy project, I can't afford tequila or even to pay attention for that matter.

My wife keeps telling me to write a book. Not sure the statutes of limitation have passed on all those things yet. Plus I don't want to share some of the brilliant shenanigans we got away with

How do you have your pro wired now?

VVT knobs and a switch. Like a 7ender Jazz, only with a selector. I don't really like the selector switch and would rather it be a blend knob. But, I haven't spent the time to figure it out. The stock pickups are long gone, replaced with Lace Alumatones, and it's fretless. So, it's not exactly and Epiphone pro IV any more. I'm pretty good at spending a lot of time and money to reduce the value of things I own, but when that's done, they are all mine!

Not the best picture, but you've certainly lost weight judging by it - May I ask how much weight you lost?

Of course! I'm down 50 lbs from July (was 253, now 203) and I've been working out, too, so I'm stronger now. It's been a hell of a battle. I'm maintaining at "around 200".

Found a use for the black three pointer off my Gibson TBird. I put the chrome one that came with this onto the TBird.
Getting quite good at setting up basses with three pointers! The G3 set up beautifully with a set of Roto nickel rounds.
I'll take some better pics when the light is better- darn black basses!.

The G3 gets used tonight and Saturday with the band, so I'll know more then, but she does sound good at home. Spent some time rolling the fret board edges- they were pretty sharp and I will file the fret ends a bit more when I get time- first Gibson I have had where the fret ends were not filed to my liking. They were filed but are too prominent for my liking.
I can see where the comments about a chunky neck came from. The nut measurement is 40mm and it does feel hefty. The neck dimensions (nut, 12th, radius, profile and depth) are almost the same as my ES 335 Bass and my 74 Ripper, but both those necks are extremely comfortable for me. The lack of nice rounding off on the fret board and the sub optimal finishing off of the fret ends make it feel a little uncomfortable at present. I'll fix it and she will be a treat.

Anyway, a bit of nice flame in the neck, which is dead straight. The "roasted" maple board adds to the snap. A hefty volute.

& Speaking of Builds....

The tiger bass has the control cover fitted & channel routed. Need to get some screws for it & countersink them into the cover. Only thing left on the body is to route the pickup cavities along with the neck pocket then it can be passed with a blowtorch to give it its stripes!

The RD build has the cover completed as well, & channel routed. The reason it's now split in two is cause of the mistake i made at first when carving the control cavity ( i made it too big for just the simple 3 pots & tube jack) Which i've filled up with alder blocks, routed the "new" cavity. The cover portion that hides the mess is going to be glued onto the mess to hide it in full & the removable cover is going to be held on with magnets (a clean look & something different rather than screws). But before i can glue it down, i gotta stain it a darker shade by request of my friend

This smaller piece inside the cavity over the control holes is a reinforcement piece. I've noticed when i acquired the black dome knobs & did a test fit onto the pots, the face of the bass is very fragile & this piece will solidify that whole area around the controls. Once it's glued in, i can trace around the pots & carve just those areas, leaving the added piece as a structure to facilitate installing & removing the knobs without any breaks occurring & also for any hard dings to be had with this bass.

Lots of work left, it feels good to build. It's very mind clearing for me.

Just wanted to throw up a pic of the swank new PG I got for my 'bird from our very own Larry V (thanks Larry!). I wasn't sure if I was going to like it better than the white one, but I do! And the wife says it looks classy... I told her this is what you call a 'tuxedo' bass.

The only other cosmetic thing I want to do is replace the black PG screws with gold ones.

I love this from one of my favorite T-bird players. New vid from the best of the L.A. scene. Nikki is so great. I can't believe she's like 40 and had twins two years ago. Only thing missing is her bird. On tour now with Cage the Elephant. I'm planning on seeing them Saturday night in Sacramento.

I have basses with V/V/T/T and with V/B/T and much prefer the V/B/T. I think it just works better for me as far as control of the tone.

I prefer V/V/T/T/S, but will take V/V/T/S or V/V/S. Though a blend knob instead of the switch would also be fine.

With two volumes, do you use a volume pedal or some form of mute for live use? I'm not smart or coordinated enough to roll off two volume knobs; I can sometimes manage one.

Shoot, I'll have one with three volume knobs and no tone when I get my thumbs out and get the third pickup put in.
