I must say I love my Ampegs. V4-BH (I have two of these) and the newer V-4B.
The BH's are big and smooth. The recent V-4Bs are more aggressive and LOUD.

I will say the Sanamp VT pedal is a must with a SS head as far as I'm concerned.

I would like the smaller PF 50w version.

basically we do local nursing homes, so yes an older crowd.

But some of the stuff he suggests are the songs of their parents! imo

I find Beatles, Elvis, Seekers all go over well. Plus some local country stuff and movie stuff like Que Sera Sera and other pop songs from 60s & 70s, dip into 50s sometimes. Plus Danny Boy, Irish Eyes, Tipperary on occasion.

I have had a potential win in steering us to about 70% guitar and ukulele this year instead of 100% accordion backing. Looks like I’ll have up to 3 ukes (including me) and 1 guitarist. We have started bringing some percussion items as well. I will be bringing my uke, washboard, kazoo and maybe one day mouth organ and guitar (to back up the guitarist on the nameless horse song). Oh, and voice such as it is.

Hoping my plan will work. Eventually hoping for another guitar so I can pull the bass out again.

It started humming yesterday and when I looked at the 6550s, one was bright orange. The amp was made with an autobias circuit, which removed by a previous owner sometime between 2004 and 2016, when it came to me. Hoping it's only a duff resistor or capacitor, or at worst a single 6550 needing replacement.

i guess you have someone lined up to look at it? The other pain will be in lugging it to be repaired and home again after. I used a guy called ‘the rock dog’, good as far as I can tell. But in Wollongong... bit of a pain but at least I drive.

I can't recall their name, but there was (maybe still is) a band in Wisconsin that did live Karaoke. Someone would walk up on the bandstand, state the song and they would know and play it - any song. I can imagine there were 'favorites' that were requested, but they knew any song that was thrown at them.

I had to look that one up: PRN is an abbreviation for the Latin term, "pro re nata" which loosely translates to "as needed." PRN is a term commonly used by health care employers and professionals to describe short-term, contract, part-time, or fill-in work by a nurse or allied health professional.

Yep, I got that from a nurse friend. I only use it PRN.

I don’t find the Epi EBOs feel anything like my 67 EBO. The Gibson DCs however do have that feel and vibe.

Oh, I fully agree. I wanted a cheap(OK, inexpensive)backup/tight space bass. The Epi EB-0 would do.

Good idea. Except. This "jazz" 'club' is a converted house with low ceilings. I figure the owner would take a dim view of holes in the area above the stage(?)/performance space.

I was about to turn in my membership here. I was clearing out guitars and basses due to lack of space, including a StingRay and SG Bass. I dropped one of my guitars to B to justify keeping it, but wasn't having much luck with B on the Thunderbird. I upgraded to the Babicz bridge, but the heaviest strings that would fit were .115 (GHS Bass Boomers in Heavy), which felt like spaghetti. Then I found the Kalium strings, which were tapered, so they fit in the bridge. I figured .142 would give me a B that is equivalent to a .100 - .105 E. All I wanted was low B without the girth of a five-string neck, and the Kalium strings delivered.

Now the Thunderbird is my number one bass again.

Couldn't you have just swiped some out of a piano?

Latest patient, pretty rare early 80’s Nomad Rebel....outta Berkeley and intended to compete with Mesa (from across the bay) MK 1’s.... unlike the Mesas these were EL-34 based as opposed to 6L6...

REALLY liking those flats on my 13...tension is perfect with std gauge...so sensitive to the touch in fingerstyle; play lightly and get a nice fat, smooth, relaxed response ...dig in harder and breakup starts...even harder and some serious bark...almost like a built in overdrive control....still prefer roto rounds for pick playing but man oh man...tonight’s setup..
