I have heard a couple people say that the black TB Plus look like they have a Teflon coating, so maybe that is what he means??

Good prices on both the Bird and the Ray. Wonder if he’d discount if the same buyer bought both. What am I thinking? If I did that, I’d be in the doghouse for the rest of the year.

They would deliver the sound you want as well but may not be too pick friendly. If you want that deep dark sound with a pick try the DR Silver Stars.

So true - I just bought a '64 Burns Vista Sonic (3 pu) 'project' bass to resurrect. It's not black, or a Bison, but it's uniquely British. Not aware of any Scottish basses...

Just read that Martin Wishbone article. Interested that he is another that only uses the neck pickup.

not so pleased that he refers to my modern Gibson as a ‘Teflon’ Thunderbird.

Anyway I love it.

I’ll give him a pass for that comment. He’s brought thousands of hours of listening pleasure to me for almost 50 years.

REALLY liking those flats on my 13...tension is perfect with std gauge...so sensitive to the touch in fingerstyle; play lightly and get a nice fat, smooth, relaxed response ...dig in harder and breakup starts...even harder and some serious bark...almost like a built in overdrive control....still prefer roto rounds for pick playing but man oh man...tonight’s setup..

I’ve been looking to see if they still make Epiphone Non-Reverse 5-string Thunderbirds and it seems like they don’t anymore. I’d like to get one to go with my reverse ‘93 4-string.

Fantastic! Flats and Thunderbirds are likely a counter intuitive hidden wonder. At the risk of causing chafing for some Chrome lovers, might I suggest other flats sometime. I know there is lot's of love for Chromes, but in my experience there are plenty better options, at least for what I want to hear. Fender Flats are similar but have a more full sound in all my attempts with them. I've changed rigs, so in fairness I likely should give them a try one more time.

Our friend @GonePlaid had one a few months ago that took a few weeks to sell on here before finding a home in Arizona. Understand they’re a PJ, no buckers on those. @Nocturnal is the resident expert on those NRs on here.

The only current Epi TB is the Vintage Pro 4-string. Alas and a lack (sic)!

Pretty chuffed. Filling in somewhere new tomorrow. I’ve had links and tabs all week for practice, but won’t meet the band to rehearse until two hours before go live time. This is a first for me, and I’m chuffed. Similar situation Monday, but no rehearsal time there, so winging it. Another first. I don’t think I ever had the confidence in the past to do something like this!
I’m only taking the new VP tomorrow, still with the RS66s on it. My fingers aren’t thrilled, but neither are they screaming at me.
