It has the covers on it, too. It looks like a fantastic one.

Plus Fogerty invented a completely new language when singing. I mean he “hoid” it through the grapevine...”doot doot doot” looking out (his backdoor)...shine that “eva-luvvin” light on me...pure lyrical magic. That’s the stuff of linguistics at its highest form. Love, love, love Creedence.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to open for Creedence Clearwater Revisited in the Spring of 1995 with my band and it was an amazing show and experience. I got to meet one of my all-time bass playing heroes - Stu Cook; as well as Elliot Eastman from the Cars (who was playing guitar for them during that time -- and I LOVE the Cars!), and the amazing Doug Clifford on the drums. Elliot Eastman was so cool - laid back and so down to Earth (truly one of the greats to ever use effects and jam as a lefty no-less in an awesome, rockin' and new wave style of guitar); as was Doug Clifford, and of course, the great Stu Cook.

All three of them had no problem with 18 year old me going a bit "fan boy" on all of them. Stu, in particular, was so humble about everything: after soundcheck, I went up to him and shook his hand and said: "Mr. Cook, you are one of my bass playing heroes and one of the reasons I play the bass guitar..." then I went on to expound upon how much his tasty lines in CCR made me want to pick up a bass, get in the garage and play in a band. That was when he told me that I needed to get some new heroes and that he was far from a person to look up to as a hero. I told him that his playing was what made me want to strive to learn how to tie in with the drummer in such a way that we worked together as one -- just as he and Doug did. He kind of waved it off as if to say that it was no big deal; but it was a big deal! -- especially to me and every other musician who picked up a bass or drumsticks because of Creedence's music. Those guys were a monster rhythm section and I was so honored to open for them and get the chance to meet them. I still have Stu's autograph on my copy of CCR Chronicle somewhere. What an evening that was!

well, Archie hoid it from Meathead as well so....that usage always baffled me, as a kid in SoFL all the old folks talked liked that and Fogerty and CCR are as west coast as it gets.....doesn’t jive somehow..o_O

That was weird. Everyone thought they were from LA(Louisiana, not Los Angeles)by their sorta 'swampy' subject material. Surprise!

That’s enough for tonight...
